My ears were constantly assaulted by Slouchy Draggy Walking all farking day today.

Is it really so difficult to PlaceLiftReplaceThenRepeatWithOtherFoot?

IME there are 3 categories of culprits:

those who are youthful and attitudinous.

those who are wearing a certain type of slipper boot.

those who are concentrating very hard on chewing their gum, and so lose all ability to control their other gross motor skills.

So, AIBU?

Surely I'm not the only irritated by this?

I scuff my right foot when walking, cant help it though. It annoys me too. Sorry! Grin

BeatRoute · 12/10/2010 20:15

I hate to hear dragging feet as well. In particular, the awful sound of flip-flops being flooped across a pavement. Fortunately there's not many flip-flop wearers out at the moment.

Now what about being locked out?!

TheInvisibleManDidIt · 12/10/2010 21:19

Yes it is annoying.

But we are all far more interested in you being locked out!!

JBsMonsterMummy · 12/10/2010 21:21

Invisible!!!!!!
How are you????

Sorry hijack... yes, shuffling is annoying.

JBsMonsterMummy · 12/10/2010 21:21

JBsMonsterMummy · 12/10/2010 21:22

OrmRenewed · 12/10/2010 21:22

TheSmallClanger · 12/10/2010 21:29

YABU. Some people (ie, me) can't help it. I have a slight limp so my right foot drags a bit. Trying not to do it makes it worse.

ChaosTrulyReigns · 12/10/2010 21:37

Oh SmallClanger I'm really sorry - I meant no offence. Sad

I was referring to those youths of a certain persuasion who like to antagonise by slouchy walking to annoy the more mature and cuse them to hoik their bosoms and tut in symphony with of the William Tell Overture. Wink

Chaos. This piece of advice I give you, may not look much, but if a wee while of foot dragging annoys you this intensely after so little time, I am merely posting this to avoid a potential international incident.

Never, EVER (even think) of going to EGYPT then.

We call those sandal things we wear at the seaside Flip Flops cos of the noise they make when walking. In egypt your sandals/slippers are called SHIP SHIP. This name(and indeed all Egyptian language) is also derived from the sound it makes.

When Egyptians walk, it's (clearly) law that they have to drag their feet. It's all you hear, literally 24 hours a day. ship ship ship ship ship ship SHIP SHIP SHIP SHIP ship ship ship ship. in the street, up the stairs, down the stairs and all at half speed.

Only men chew gum, not often, mostly they have a fag in their mouth. It's unsightly for women to do so,(apparently) but with all the smoking they do, the men mostly just hack up a lung and gob it anywhere anytime. Again, I think it has to be law.... It's revolting.

fireblademum · 12/10/2010 23:04

i worked with japanese people, in my experience they dont seem to pick their feet up either. they shuffled very politely.

JBsMonsterMummy · 12/10/2010 23:31

How does one shuffle politely? As opposed to rudely? [curious]

ChristmasTrulyReigns · 12/10/2010 23:36

Right that's sorted - I shall never go to Egypt, thank you for all your concerned vibes LilMs. Smile

Lots of people have been giggling at me recently, it's nice to experience some compassion. Wink

hmc · 12/10/2010 23:40

it doesn't irritate me - but then lots of other 'stuff' does

MaimAndKilloki · 12/10/2010 23:40

Ooh I hate it too! Cannot stand the sound of flip flops, sets my teeth on edge, much like fingernails on blackboard.

ChristmasTrulyReigns · 12/10/2010 23:42

Tell us more hmc - have I found a sypathiser?

hmc · 13/10/2010 00:09

You nutter Grin

beenaghostlately · 13/10/2010 04:05

If you PlaceLiftReplace you'll end up in the same spot. If people all around you are doing this, i.e. marching on the spot, won't you find it more annoying?

I'm only asking ....

LilMsUnfortunateAxeIncident · 13/10/2010 10:23

OK Chaos, you were NBU, but I have seen your namechange... Angry

It's not even halloween! ! FFS!

please find a spooky name until after Bonfire night....

or I will have to rule YABU....

Or do I have to send you a one way ticket to Alex...., oh and WITH H... I'll chuck him in with the deal too... you have been warned.

kreecherlivesupstairs · 13/10/2010 10:28

I wish my DD and DH would pick their feet up. It drives me mad when they both shuffle along. DD because I need to have her new boots heeled already and DH because. Just because.

bigkidsmademe · 13/10/2010 12:01

I LOATHE this. I work in a university and the combination of Ugg-wearing students and japanese and chinese girls who shuffle - don't know why - drives me half crazed. I want to tell them off but I know they will laugh at me and put me on Youtube.

My mother says I was born aged 43, this is only one of the manifestations Grin
