to feel ripped off by certain chocolate biscuit manufacturers

I'm not covering myself against being sued: I can't remember who makes them...

But I am certain that wagon wheels and club biscuits used to be bigger and have thicker chocolate - am I just looking back at the past with chocolate-tinted specs?

The size of such products waxes and wanes. They get gradually smaller for the same price; then they say 'new! bigger', restore to original dimensions and up the price.

Or - it could just be that your mouth was smaller when you were a child Grin

In a similar tone, DH decries the current weakness of HP sauce, convinced it was palate-searingly spicy in yesteryear.

It's just the start - soon you'll think this modern music is just muppetry compared to Pearl Jam, Hothouse Flowers and REAL musicians.

i had a milky way the other day, was the same width as a twix! i am most miffed

GeekOfTheWeek · 12/10/2010 18:10

Yanbu in the slightest.

Wagon wheel is misleading, it should be go-kart wheel nowadays.

constantlytired · 12/10/2010 18:32

YANBU, i was having this exact same conversation the other day...don't get me started on the size of curly wurly's now, they're about half their original size!

deathjeff · 12/10/2010 18:54

I know that cadburys say that the creme egg has not changed but I think it's a conspiracy.

SecretNutellaFix · 12/10/2010 19:05

nope it is true they have shrunk- infact I think they admitted once that curly wurlies have shrunk by a third? I think!

sapphireblwhooooo · 12/10/2010 19:20

YANBU. Wagon wheels definitely used to be bigger. Any one who says otherwise is a liar Grin

Club biscuits and choc digestives definitely have thinner chocolate...

Doigthebountyeater · 12/10/2010 20:29

Agree re club biscuits. They were made down the road from us when I were a bairn and I ate them at every opportunity. You used to be able to get big rectangles of thick chocolate off with your teeth and leave the biscuity bit in tact to eat afterwards. Now you can barely scrape some chocolatey remanants off!

As for wagon wheels why did we ever actually think they were nice? Nobody likes marshmallow and chocolate combined more than me but that soft biscuit and thin scraoing of chocolate flavouring isn't good. I do think they used to be bigger though. My sister claimed the other day that I ate a wagon wheel she got in a party bag (20 years ago) even though she asked my mum to hide it from the chocolate monster (me). Must have been the challenge!

Pixie83 · 12/10/2010 21:18

Doig you are sooooo right about the club biscuit chocolate - I used to eat all the layers separately and I can't do that anymore without the chocolate bit falling apart Sad

Yes, the corner on a Club biscuit used to be something you could nibble on nicely!
