who are fucking IGNORING me!

My manager is away. And I am dealing directly with various managers and directors about a specific project with a tight timescale. We aren't able to do something that they want to be done - it simply isn't possible. I have sent innumerable emails explaining the problem and I am getting ignored or sidelined, even though I am the one person who understands the issue!

Why do I have to bang my head against a brick wall just because I don't possess a penis?

Fell your pain

Been there
(Thankfully not where I now work)

OrmRenewed · 12/10/2010 10:43

It's a new happening due to one particular man who started here about 18m ago. A nicely clubbable chap with the right accent and contacts Hmm

I would march in and thump desks but then I'd be a hysterical woman!

If he is clubbable can I suggest clubbing him with the fake penis I supplied? Wink

Can you ask your boss's boss to crack heads intervene?

OrmRenewed · 12/10/2010 11:07

I could try wolf, but I suspect he will be happy to sweep aside my objections. No such word as 'can't' apparently Hmm

send emails and cc them to your manager, that way your manager will see all the effort you made and that they were ignoring you. And they will see that your manager is being cc'd so they might not ignore you any more

OrmRenewed · 12/10/2010 12:38

Thanks hecate. Problem is he is not well atm and he lost his mother a few weeks back and as he's notorious for working all the time even when on leave, all of his team agreed not to email him at all this week so he has to take a break.

I am going to copy it all to him when he gets back - to cover my back.

It shouldn't be so hard though.

Don't email! Go round there or write a letter. Anyone can ignore an email, it takes less effort than not ignoring it. It takes more effort to ignore a real person, and once you've opened a physical envelope you have mad a commitment to the paper inside.

Agingmumoftwins · 12/10/2010 13:08

Can you speak to HR, if you're being ignored because you're a woman, can they help?

Otherwise, sod them. You've told them it can't be done, so when they come to you asking where it is, just refer them to your previous responses. I'm guessing you've told them when it can be done for, so just deliver it then, as promised.

OrmRenewed · 12/10/2010 14:42

I have just sent a snotty email to head of group it, reiterating my opinion and cc-ed it to everyone.

I keep saying 'it can't be done on time' all I get back is 'hmmm but if we did this' or 'perhaps you could try that'.

NO IT CAN'T BE DONE! I know. That's what you pay me for.

I'm not sure HR would help - they aren't going to beleive it's a sexist thing. It just seems very obvious from where I'm sitting.

Some people have to be pinned down in person - phone him/them or doorstep him in his office and then to go over the urgent points, your recommendations, any agreement you can get.

Then immediately send an arse covering email recording what has been said between you and noting continuing concerns, actions required by those involved.

If you're feeling pushy/secure cc his/their immediate managers.

OrmRenewed · 12/10/2010 14:54

He's the head of group IT. can't get much higer up. Sad he's such a git Angry
