£1,407,000 wow thats alot, anyone else think it is unreasonable to see what their neighbours sold their properties for, it's all on here houseprices.co.uk (must be the DM influence Grin)

YANBU. I do it all the time.

Serendippy · 12/10/2010 09:27

Are you just trying to tell us that you live in an expensive house in a posh area? Well done.

I think everyone does this though I think you are incredibly gauche to post the result, how obvious Hmm

bonnymiffy · 12/10/2010 09:40

I do it all the time as well, I'm a naturally very nosey curious person. Plus, as we're trying to weigh up the pros and cons of moving vs loft conversion it gives us an idea of how much might be available to us if/when we come to do one or the other.

sixpercenttruejedi · 12/10/2010 09:41

hmm, sounds like sneaky boasting to me. Have a Biscuit. You can eat it while you're reading your tosspot rag daily media of choice Grin

fernie3 · 12/10/2010 09:42

I don't we rent our house so I couldn't care less how much it is likely worth to our landlord!

onmyfeet · 12/10/2010 09:43

My husband always checks if he sees a sold sign on our street. He wants to know what our place will be worth when we sell basically. He is thrilled if they get a good price.

HeadlessLadyBiscuit · 12/10/2010 09:43

You could just do what my neighbour did and accost me in the street and ask me how much I sold it for.

I check and if I see a for sale sign near our house I go on the website to see what the house is like inside. I am very nosey!

nancydrewrocked · 12/10/2010 10:27

How very subtle of you.

.

HowAnnoying · 12/10/2010 10:29

I check. It makes me laugh when people wont tell you what they paid or sold a house for. When it's available for anyone to see on the internet!!

Hulababy · 12/10/2010 10:31

I often go and have a look, esp when we were considering moving.

HowAnnoying · 12/10/2010 10:33

The OP might not live in a million plus house. On our road houses range from over £900k down to around £200k, and less for flats.

Pixie83 · 12/10/2010 10:35

and the point of this thread is?

MaMoTTaT · 12/10/2010 10:41

I always often nosey at how much houses have sold for, and on rightmove if they're on the market to have a nose inside Grin

agree with HowAnnoying - the neighbours house having sold for that much doesn't mean that the OP's house is equally flashy.

The next house up from my old one is on the market for twice what most of the other houses on the street would ever be put on the market for.

My property backs onto theirs and guessing mine is worth less than a quarter, great to see they got a good price, can also see what they originally paid Shock

Hulababy · 12/10/2010 10:44

HowAnnoying - that';s true yes. I know DD's school friend lives in a very expensive hall which is worth a lot of money. However, the surroundng houses range from small flats to big detached properties, so there is a massive range int he prices reflected on the website, with the hall standing out as being substanially higher than the rest.

diddl · 12/10/2010 11:01

I´m on ZooplaBlush

addictedtoportlandbabies · 12/10/2010 14:36

Well done. You obviously live in a posh area. And how classy you are for boasting about it in such a subtle fashion!!

Fimbo · 12/10/2010 14:41

You can get the sold prices on Rightmove too. Its the favourite pastime of bored housewifes in my village Wink

SweetKate · 12/10/2010 14:53

YANBU. I check nethouseprices all the time! Especially if a house has recently been sold that we were previously interested in. I have to confess, I also check what people I know paid for their houses. Much more useful than the for sale price. I love the internet!

Lovecat · 12/10/2010 15:09

Do you work for them? Your posts read oddly like spam to me...
