AIBU?

To be becoming more fond of Ann Widdecombe with each episode of Strictly?

The woman has a sense of humour.

She slapped Craig down.

She can't dance for shit, and she knows it, and mocks it herself.

She is a total prude, and is playing on.

Its bloody hilarious, and I find myself liking her Shock

AIBU? Grin

I agree with Duellingfanjo - it's as if her 'jokes' are scripted, it's all so self-conscious and knowing.

The Beeb obviously learned from the John Sergeant debacle that having a People's Choice means more viewers - but he had charm and wit, which made him watchable and entertaining. She just has loud, overbearing sound-bites (now, what does that remind me of?) and can't wait to chip in with her tuppenceworth before anyone else has even finished what they're saying.

I was feeling sorry for Anton having to hunch over her and lug her around until someone mentioned the Paki comment.

So yes, YABU Smile.

And why does Craig have to be slapped down? He's talented and knowledgeable and, I think, fair - just not sychophantic.

I actually find Anton just as objectionable, after last year. Which is unreasonable - he's not been able to impose shackles on labouring women after all - but, well, you know what I mean.

I quite hope the divine Dr Anderson talks to her about sex a lot.

She's ghastly. Did anyone see her trying to host Have I Got News For You? They chewed her up and spat out the pieces and she looked ridiculous. Can't believe she's younger than Felicity Kendall. That's tragic.

Can't stick her. It's putting me off Strictly tbh.

I have to put my hands up and admit I knew nothing of everything that has been mentioned, and am horrified at what I have read. (Though to my defence I am only 19 so wasn't very old when everything was going on!)

I won't be watching it again now Blush Angry

Fascination and vile thread.

Would be interesting if MALE contestants on reality programmes had their religious views, age, figure, marital status and fitness levels dissected in such minute detail.

Up the sisterhood.

Fascinating.

oh for FUCK'S sake. she is the last person who believes in the sisterhood, when she was at the home office she was all for female prisoners having children while shackled to their beds...

you do understand that she was a politician, don't you nonnomum? her voting record is the record of her life's achievements - she's not been appearing with richard briers on the good life.

DuelingFanjo · 11/10/2010 21:54

We don't HAVE to like her just because she's a 'sister' - male or female, if I had to be around her I would find her objectionable and not just because of her political views.

I don't think anything would make me warm to The Wid. I wish her no harm, I watch her good-naturedly but with no fondness.

I love mumsnet. Just when I was getting suckered into the cosy warmth of Whimsy Widdicombe. Love it, love it.

Thanks for reminding me about Section 28, homophobia fitting in nicely with her conversion.

One day, when she was in the cabinet, she was being interviewed for TV in her own living room. The interviewer pointed out her hunting scene curtains. AW said yes she liked the old English style of hunting prints etc but didn't approve of it now. Total hypocrite and never liked her since - despite being tory myself.

she is hideous and I agree with numerous previous posts that just because she is "game for a laugh" and oh look at her trotting around with her sequins etc, she is still a fascist old bint. It really does put me off watching strictly because she could go all the way to the final just for being totally cringeworthy - the judges will have no say. Angry aaaarggggh

Yeah well, the public obviously love her, and why shouldn't they? She was a very good politician and is extremely popular with normal people.
What a shame the bitter and twisted lefties of MN have no control over strictly come dancing.

I hope she wins.....Smile

I absolutely hate her politics but quite respect the fact that she is not at all afraid to make herself unpopular, and is quite straightforward as politicians go.

She really lopsided, funnily enough I think she's leaning to the right.

She's a foul woman, I can't bear watching her. At least some of the shit dancers on past seasons have tried so, although painful to watch, you could see they were putting some effort in.

She doesn't even take it seriously.

The only thing I respect her for is her anti-fox hunting stance.....
