To be becoming more fond of Ann Widdecombe with each episode of Strictly?

The woman has a sense of humour.

She slapped Craig down.

She can't dance for shit, and she knows it, and mocks it herself.

She is a total prude, and is playing on.

Its bloody hilarious, and I find myself liking her Shock

AIBU? Grin

Can't quite believe this strand is still going! Is mumsnet always like this? am loving it by the way. I like going out with other mums n stuff but I soon switch off when talk turns to poo - both literally and metophorically! Speaking of poo, the stuff that comes out of AWs mouth.... and as for Alesha...

Not seen the poodle jumpers but I'm happy to accept that she's not right in the head. It's the only explanation Grin

re the teddies, she has an odd fondness for sweatshirts with poodles etc on them as well. she's really not right in the head, tbh.

Passive aggressive? I think she's just plain aggressive! And shouty and overbearing.

Did anyone see her on ITT earlier this week on the little clip about collecting things? She went off on one about collecting teddy bears and all things bear related. It seemed really incongruous and has left an odd image in my head of her living in a house surrounded by cute fluffy teddy bears (when she's so far removed from cute and fluffy!)Confused.

Maybe part of the whole rebranding of herself as a reality TV loveable old battleaxe?

Good summery Aitch.

Her behaviour is actually quite passive-agressive in nature and for me, great British battle-axe just equates to being downright rude.

I was really worried to open this thread. I feared it might be full of people saying 'ah yes, isn't she lovely afterall.'

Vile woman. Thank you mn for not disappointing me! I'm so glad people feel the same.

thing is, though, and i appreciate this may be hard to believe for those who enjoy the 'great english battleaxe' stereotype, i DON'T like her on Strictly.

she actually doesn't seem to me to be getting into the spirit of the dancing thing at all, with her strictures on what she will and won't do, what she will and won't wear, and on ITT she seems mostly to rehearse sitting down.

then on the day, she talks herself down SO much that she clearly wants everyone to vote for her as a sympathy vote, and then won't listen to the judges if they might actually give her some dancing tips, instead only being interested when they congratulate her.

john sergeant, i imagine, is not best pleased to be compared to her... he was a good sport, whereas she is a rotten one, imo.

Transubstantiation is the moment the Catholics believe the bread and wine at communion actually turns into the flesh and blood of Jesus.

They believe it to be a miracle.

Protestants believe the wine and bread to be a symbol.

It's part of the reason the Church of England split from Rome in the 16th century.

I kinda agree with you Aitch, once a polititian always a limelight seeker, but you don't have to agree with her polotics to like her attitude on strictly. I wonder if she regrets the handcuffed mother in prison thing? Same for Bristol breastfeeding bus story (don't remember that one- where can I find it)? She clearly knows nothing about motherhood and should avoid such topics. My fist day on mumsnet I'm already addicted! Other half may be pleased if it keeps me off ebay!

oh for goodness sakes, she clearly has an ego the size of a house, she's on that show because she likes the attention and she knows that unless she remains in the public eye somehow she won't get it now that she's retired. Don't kid yourself.

Agree about the dance lessons. But she's not daft, had the chance to do this, get paid and have Anton du Beke teaching her.

But you're not so daft saying Pamela anderson - I called her that the other day! Pamela anderson did the US version, and 'our' Pamela is a sort of older, UK version of her!

If she just wanted to learn to dance, she could go to dance classes Hmm.

And neither Jimi Mistry nor Pamela Anderson really need to do SCD. Which is probably why they're doing the whole thing with a huge sense of humour.

SmellsLikeTeenSweat · 12/10/2010 20:31

She's gone on SCD to... ta da! Learn to Dance. Not to a) show off, b)dress up, c) look sexy, or d) revive a flagging career.

She must be the first.

I don't think you have to like everything about a person and agree with all their views in order to like and/or respect them.

AW was squeaky clean in the expenses scandal. I can't think of any other politician who I would trust as much, and whose words/promises I would trust as much.

She sticks to her guns, popular or not. She speaks her mind. So, I like her, although no doubt I woul disagree with some of what she says and thinks.

Kick off AW, Paul Daniels, that footballer bloke who does shaming Dad Dancing, possibly Felicity Pouting Kendall, that's what I say (I'm tolerant, me).

I've got to be honest, nothing good to say about her regarding her records in politics or opinions... BUT... I do like watching her shambling about on the stage.

Rollercoasteryears · 12/10/2010 18:34

I agree with Seeker - and am another fan of her quote above! Dreadful dreadful woman. Politicians who try to make the public forget that their views are vile and unacceptable are often the worst - Boris Johnson's another one...

The sooner AW (and Paul Daniels) get kicked off strictly, the happier I shall be.

I will however concede that without AW, there wouldn't have been the quote of the series so far from Bruno - when he compared her to the Ark Royal Grin
