If you want your kids to take part in (highly) competitive activities, then teach them to lose gracefully, not to blame everyone else but their performance. IT DRIVES ME NUTS!!!
Thanks, just needed a little rant. No responses necessary!

Grin IME it, unfortunately, doesn't quite work like that!

I used to get a lot of stick when I had a very "Meh we won/lost....so?" attitude in competitive sport. It's just not the "done thing".

IT DRIVES ME NUTS!!!

Perhaps you also, seem to be displaying a "high intensity attitude", about the whole thing ?

Perhaps you could just laugh at them and their misplaced egos/distorted view of the importance of the activity they're involved in.

our DCs are all involved in the same activity cumfy, it IS high intensity, but surely if your kids are involved in something like that, you owe it to them to yes, be competitive and do your best - but learn to lose too? That was my point.

my dp is the worse loser on earth but he is also the worse winner... He drives me mad, neadless to say he isn't invited to play many games with us.

I know exactly what you're saying; but I'm just observing it rarely works like that in practice.

You have to be really quite mature to have a winwinwin attitude on the field, then shortly thereafter be full of bon-ami for the victors.

YANBU, but don't expect anything to change!
And don't keep getting wound up by that.

lilolilmanchester · 10/10/2010 22:23

you're right, I shouldn't get wound up! And don't most times, just once too often today!

(and thought it better to vent at MN than at the people in question!) Thanks for listening and the sound advice!
