Sorry but DVO really annoys me with her bleating and excuses for not breastfeeding - rather than just say it is not for her she bleats and bleats and makes excuses for giving up on bf and I am sick of hearing her go on and on. BF is hard and it takes perseverance and time to establish both supply and technique - she did not give it long enough and completely choose to ignore the health benefits of bf and now keeps bleating on.

I know some people will be outraged by how I feel and I do know there are ladies who have genuine problems with bf and can't carry on. but I 'do' feel that women like DVO who, lets face it, gave up on bf and didn't give it long enough, really take away from women who really persevere through all the problems that bf can bring.

And don't get me started on the fact she left poor baby and went on that trek...baby needs mummy at such a young age not for mummy to go off and leave her. I really don't think much of her anymore!

ok, this is 'MY' opinion and everyone is entitled to their own!

If you use the word 'bleating' once more, I will personally commission a flock of sheep to trample their droppings into your carpet.

Portofino · 10/10/2010 20:15

Does she really keep "bleating" about it, or do other people keep bringing it up? I felt guilty and defensive for not BF. The flipping Norks Police wind me up no end. Leave her alone. Why do you possibly care about this?

scottishmummy · 10/10/2010 20:16

sad that some get so vicious about how dvo feeds baby

fedupofnamechanging · 10/10/2010 20:17

She probably keeps on about it because she feels judged by militant breastfeeders and guilty because she couldn't do it. Have some sympathy.

Parenting doesn't come instinctively to everyone and being watched and disapproved of probably doesn't help

scottishmummy · 10/10/2010 20:19

she is right so is being pilloried and bullied for a personal individual choice.so she gave baby formula.

get over it

formula not a big ole doobie

muriel76 · 10/10/2010 20:30

Oh shut up and get a life OP.

Jennylee · 10/10/2010 20:49

At least she tried does that count for nothing? and she is right to be FURIOUS about the letter she got. I always nearly don't make it through the first few weeks, I dread them and I hate them adn I always find the newborn bit the worst and I dread the feeds and wish I didn't have to breastfeed until it gets established and then it gets easy and I love it, but If I hadn't made it each time does that mean I never really tried? dvo is right it is bullying, what about dvo breastfed for 3 weeks at least she tried it must have been difficult for her or she might have continued and how awful ls getting a letter like that at such a time? last thing any postnatal Mother needs, Imagine if everyone who did not breastfeed got one how bad would that be? if I had not got through the pain, tiredness barrier and then got a letter like that it would make me feel worthless. she tried, why be so horrible about it

dvo has no responsibility to other mums, nor is she a role model to anyone

not a great fan of any schleb but i dont think the vitriol she has been subject to is warranted

I think she's right to bring it up as the 'attacks' on her were unfair. I don't think she's been going on about it, but people responding the way they did is naturally going to lead to a follow on story.

The press go for soundbites as do certain MNetters. It was a shame that that one comment got picked on so much. tbh if I was in her shoes it would be a siginifant factor to think about (and I never used formula).

scottishmummy · 10/10/2010 21:57

the vitriol heaped upon her is viccious

Honeymoonmummy · 10/10/2010 22:05

I do think it's up to her re BF. However, I don't understand any 'celeb' who can leave a LO that young to take a job. It's not like they're strapped for cash.

scottishmummy · 10/10/2010 22:07

baby not abandoned to prairie dogs.home with dad.schleb is a very fickle life you got to take work when it presents.

A good point scottishmummy. Would people criticise the baby's father if he had gone away for work? Surely he is just as capable of parenting if breastfeeding isn't involved.

gaelicsheep · 10/10/2010 22:36

I didn't realise DVO was back in the news over this. The OP is not being fair. Her reasons for stopping are her own business and it sounds like she feels guilty enough without being subjected to a public trial.

scottishmummy · 10/10/2010 22:36

dvo has been subjected to some nasty comments

Theincrediblesulk1 · 10/10/2010 22:45

Ah mind your own business miss perfect tell you what we should take dvo's child from her and stick her on your tit as you are obviously a cut above the rest on being milked!

Diziet · 10/10/2010 22:46

I mixed fed DS1 for 5 months, DS2 was BF for just two weeks. He was a CS, DS1 was a VB. You never know how it's going to go: at least she tried. But whenever you stop you always feel down about it.
Also a big Angry and much fist waving to the NHS for sending that letter and mug. How's THAT going to help, I wonder?
It reminds me of the jolly BF posters I used to see in the Parents room of SCBU when DS2 was born - er, NOT really the best place for them, IMO: my son was full term but poorly with a heart condition, so he had a stay in SCBU, but there are obviously very tiny, weak prem babies in there who could no more latch on than drive a tractor. Imagine how some of THOSE mums must've felt!
I got so cross one night that I pulled aforesaid poster off the wall and made a paper aeroplane out of it! Grin

I quite like DVO.
At least she is fit to judge talent shows as she knows what she is talking about.

I personally have not seen/heard her talikng about this so think it is a case of old news being dredged up by the media.

chipmonkey · 10/10/2010 23:06

I just wish she would not ponce about looking fabulous after having a baby. She makes me feel fat and inferior.

Theincrediblesulk1 · 10/10/2010 23:11

chipmonkey i am sure your gorgeous!
