Inflated boobs

stayathomegardener · 09/10/2010 23:54

I look around and class my boobs as average in size....I wear a size 12 dress.

Went to Rigby and Peller yesterday as a 34D and left a 32F!How is this possible.

Unreasonable or not I just wanted to get that off my chest

Well I went to Primark yesterday and bought a vest...as I am poor and flat chested.

MouseyHousey · 10/10/2010 00:32

Some places have really weird measuring. In most stores I am a 34F, but when I went in to Bravissimo they told me I was a 32HH! I didn't find their bra comfortable though so usually stick with the ones I know!

BitOfFunderthepatio · 10/10/2010 00:39

I have F boobs too, but they are nothing spectacular. I think that most bras just don't cut the mustard really, and that many people are bigger than they think.

what bof said except 30G here.

Bloody hell i wish i could stick a pin in them and let them deflate abit. I mean really it is a bit unnecessary... I'd love to go back to my 30E pre dc. Maybe i should stop eating chocolate and do some exercise Blush

stayathomegardener · 10/10/2010 16:11

Not just me then!

Am v envious of valentin re vest and costs-have never paid so much for bras in my lifeBlush I remember those vest days and all my clothes looked better but do agree that I look much improved fitted and seem to be standing up straighter.

Maybe not so unreasonable....

common to be fitted and end up with a smaller band/chest size, and therefore you go up in the cup size.

You are luckt tho to be able to fit an f cup into a size 12 dress, even with such a tiny back.

former R+P employee!!

marriednotdead · 10/10/2010 18:26

Three in a row Smile
32F is very average (sorry) but most people who haven't been fitted properly will be wearing the same size you were or worse.

Which shop do you get size 12 tops to fit then? Have had to wear 14s for years, even when I was a 32E.

stayathomegardener · 10/10/2010 19:01

Hmmmm bit of a problem with size 12 tops since fitting, am having to wear today's shirt half unbuttoned with a t-shirt underneath to um accommodate....

Welcome to my world Grin

'Lycra' and 'wrap tops with a safety pin' are very good friends of mine, surely you've met them?!

My sister (bigger norks than me) tried the Bravissimo shirt. She looked like Dolly Parton Grin

I was always a 36 C before pregnancy, I was measured two weeks ago (dd is now 16 mo) and I'm a 38F.
Do you think manufacturers have changed the sizing over time for our ego?
I alwyas thought someone who had a F would have massive boobs, now I am a "F" I don't find them that impressive!

WhatsWrongWithYou · 11/10/2010 09:37

Small point: if you have sizeable boobs you shouldn't be wearing buttoned-up shirts anyway; gives you a squashed, saggy look. Top two or three buttons open and vest under is the way to go.

I wore a 36c for many years, from aged about 16 to mid-20s. I then changed to 34d and wore that until I'd had the dcs, but since about 4 years ago have worn 32f/g.

I think maybe the manufacturers have started making larger cup sizes for the smaller backs, so lots of us who had to wear, say, 34d like I did, can now be fitted more accurately and wear the 32f/g they actually always were but there simply wasn't the stock available.

Good to know I am not aloneSmile

I was a 30F pre-pregnancy. A lot of bra fitters do that thing where they measure around your rib cage and then add 4 or 5 inches- utterly bonkers, no wonder so many women wear a back size that's too big.

I was measured in M&S once and this ratty matronly lady tried to put me in a 36B. It was clear that it was going to be a nipple-holder on me but she was insistent that the tape measure was right. I was so worried the damn thing was going to ping off and hit her in the eye.

LadyBuzz · 11/10/2010 14:52

eaurouge M&S told me I was a 34B then our local posh bra shop fitted me into a 32E!

I am currently 26 wks pg and a 40G and i've given up trying anything that is not stretchy!

I do think it is Very unreasonable that big bras cost the earth in most places though!

MintyMoo · 11/10/2010 14:59

I went to Bravissimo when I was 18 as a 36C and emerged a 32G :) I'm now a 30F and wear an 8-10 (I have a teeny back, it's freakishly smal). I agree with EauRouge - adding 4/5 inches to the back size is bonkers - my old bras feel shocking on me now, I can't believe I was so unsupported before! Only problem is I can no longer afford to buy bras very often as Bravissimo is expensive :(

EauRouge · 11/10/2010 15:10

Try La Senza, they are very cheap.

AuntieBulgaria · 11/10/2010 15:13

I got told 30F in Rigby and Peller and 34C at M&S (as I couldn't afford the R&P bras.)

The R&P woman told me that the breast soft tissue started way back which is why the bigger cup size.

The M&S woman told me people get measured in R&P and then come to M&S to find something comfortable.

I do find that the smaller band size fits like I'm told it should be it is quite crushing round my rib cage.

As it is I'm still wearing a massive range of pre-and post pregancy bras some of which are far too small, some of which are half empty.

piratecat · 11/10/2010 17:55

op thats why i wondered how you could fit your size 12 tops, becuase if your boobs are now in the correct size it's going to lift them up into a different position.!!!
