should have allowed me to get into a taxi before them?
DD (18) phoned me as she was driving home to say she was getting a migraine attack and was seeing flashing lights. She was about 2 miles from home.
I told her to stay where she was and I'd get to her and drive her home.
I went to the main road and waited a while for a cab. Saw one and hailed it when suddenly two girls appeared, tottering unsteadily and screaming 'My cab, my cab".
I said my daughter was unwell and I needed to get to her. they sneered and said 'we've been waiting half an hour'.
I tried to plead to their better natures but clearly they didn't have one and resorted to pulling the age card.
They got in cab.
I wasn't happy Angry

They were drunk, and in all likelihood not thinking about anything but getting home.
Console yourself with the thought of the whacking great fine they no doubt got when they vommed on the back seat Wink

OldLadyKnowsNothing · 08/10/2010 15:21

You could have called a cab?

musicmadness · 08/10/2010 15:34

They were drunk, quite possibly feeling unwell themselves, and if they called the cab then I don't see why they should give it up to wait another half an hour for the next one. Sorry. You should have called a cab yourself.

scurryfunge · 08/10/2010 15:36

Unless it was an emergency. I don't think I would have given up a cab I'd been waiting half an hour for.

Squitten · 08/10/2010 15:37

They were drunk. Manners were not at the forefront of their addled minds...

thegirlwiththemouseyhair · 08/10/2010 16:12

No they hadn't called the cab.
It was a black taxi.
I didn't call one because it's usually easy to hail one.

So presumably you got the next cab and all was well with your daughter?

thegirlwiththemouseyhair · 08/10/2010 16:17

Yes thank you, I did and it was Smile after a couple of pills and a good night's sleep.
And I think she took pills too Grin

It wasn't an emergency, they'd been waiting half an hour. It would have been a NICE thing for them to do, but you shouldn't have expected it. Sorry.

ValentinCrimble · 08/10/2010 16:47

I would have phoned a cab....stpid girls! There's always an idiot soving in somewhere...I watched two hulking young men take a cab andleave an old lady with a stick on the side of the road!

lucky1979 · 08/10/2010 17:14

Sorry, if you hail a black cab off the street then there is no queueing system, you should have ignored them and got in.

minipie · 08/10/2010 17:26

It all comes down to who hailed it first really. They probably thought they did, you think you did. Just one of those things...
