that it costs money to view online.

I do not even buy the paper anymore.

I avoid M&S because I hate the way they charge for bags but overpackage all their products. I understand I am helping the anti-sex business too.

I am rather proud of stopping some ingrained consumer habits.

coraltoes - Actually I do not use plastic bags - even the bags for life ones (which are still plastic).

I use my buggy to hold groceries and I have some gym gear bags with some expandable cloth bags if needed.

I object to the fact that they charge 5p, when they over package everything.

I don't own a car.

I walk everywhere or use public transport.

My baby has re-usuable nappies.

I try buy re-cycled clothes.

I'm another M&S employee and just for info all M&S packaging can be recycled. I agree some things may appear over packaged but a lot of the time the packaging is necessary to ensure it arrives to the shop floor in pristine condition. But I agree it can always be improved but as a company they are doing far more than any other to help the environment and charging for plastic bags is one of them.

Don't really get why it annoys you so much if you don't use them??

I can see your point about over packaging, FizzleDrizzle, but I think that linking it into the plastic bags is counterproductive - it comes across as saying that companies shouldn't make incremental improvements in their stores' sustainability.

And I have to agree that some packaging at M&S is recyclable when the equivalent from other stores isn't. On the other hand, I agree that other goods do appear very heavily packaged, and I prefer to avoid them - esp avocadoes (but then they do bruise, and then you get food wastage...)

DH works in this industry and knows the sustainability people at M&S, and IIRC, says they're nice people who are trying hard but are sometimes a bit scatty (and are trying to fix that).

I boycott the Times due to the bad coverage of gardening. Wink

They may charge 5p but it's worth it!

They have the best quality carrier bags!
