5yr olds peeing in the bushes

Yesterday on the walk home from school my friend's ds stopped for a pee in the bushes. A mother and her dd came by and really had a go at both mum and her ds. She basically said he should not be exposing himself to her ds. I was shocked and thought she was seriously overreacting, AIBU?

DS1 has done it many times. Drives me mad. I ask him as we are leaving school if he needs to go. He doesn't. 3/4 of the way home, in the park, he's desperate.
He is discreet. I can't see the harm.

er, sorry, but is this a wind up!!

I don't see the problem at that age. The woman was overreacting and I would have said so

YANBU. "exposing himself"? Really?? My 6yo DS does it on the way home from school despite me asking when we leave school if he needs to go. But, he is discreet - in fact he'd be mortified if anyone saw! The suggestion that he's "exposing himself" puts a nasty slant on it, I think.

My DD dropped her trousers and had a pee in front of the car last week. Am I a bad mum for not stopping her wetting herself?

I should add that we were parked at the train station, it was dark and she really wanted to have a little dump.

When ur a child, you gotta go when u gotta go. Depends on the age of DS...6 YANBU, 23 YABU!!! :)

TBH I would be a bit annoyed to see a 6 year old peeing in the bushes - nothing to do with "exposing himself", more to do with the puddle of wee which will start to smell pretty quickly.

'exposing himself' is ridiculous frankly. He's 5 ffs.
I do think though by 5 if they can they should really wait till they get home if at all. But some 5 year olds havent got that much control - if they are desperate - I'd rather they do that than pee themselves.
