arrrgh, why does her 'comfort' have to be stroking the dry skin bit on my elbows.

i love her, i do . but when she shouts elbows every few months and wants a quick rub as a comfort its very wearing.

might have to pop her on my back in a sling and let her stroke whilst i get on with chores.

Sorry, but ROFL.

TrinityRhino · 06/10/2010 10:15

every few months?

lol I'm sorry but it is funny

I though gecko having to tune in my ohter nipple when she is feeding was bad enough

but 'elbows, elbows' is pretty crazy

but then booby, booby, can grate Grin

pagwatch · 06/10/2010 10:17

Grin at elbow nuzzling

I wish.. DD is 8 and still likes to pull on my wizened wrinkled elbow skin when we watch tv together. Oh that they were just dry...

misdee · 06/10/2010 10:18

every few moments lol. Blush

i know its crazy, i dont know why its my elbows. she doesnt like it when i wear long sleeved tops, and cant get to them.

least she isnt grappling down my top any more like she used to.

misdee · 06/10/2010 10:19

nooooooo it wont go on until age 8 surely!

dh elbows arent right, it has to be MY elbows.

Can you not fashion it so you get a foot massage when she's feeling stressed? That could work.

ShowOfHands · 06/10/2010 10:23

My friend's dd is 9. Her comfort of choice? Earlobes. Anybody's. If you sit next to her, her hand sneaks across and she's stroking before you know it. She did it from being very, very small. She doesn't know she's doing it most of the time.

It's sweet. And irritating.

chiaroscuro · 06/10/2010 10:26

BlushBlush There's nothing wrong with a bit of earlobe stroking.
I am in my 40's and am pacified by a bit of earlobe stroking. Mine will do but have to resist reaching out to a suitable looking pair...

pearlsandtwinset · 06/10/2010 10:27

Perhaps you should 'wean' her with some sandpaper (if your elbows are anything like mine) Wink

misdee · 06/10/2010 10:29

lol @ sandpaper.

if only she would like my feet, but alas they send anyone screaming into the hills.

suppose its better than earlobes.

DD3 still goes for the hand-down-the-top. She's 2, and it's a year since she last had a bfeed. She hates it if I wear anything that stops her getting her hand comfortably into my bra. I hate it when she starts twiddling my nipple - makes my teeth itch!

It's not just clothes though - she likes my necklace to be out of her way too, so the locket has to be put round the back of my head, which irritates me to a level far beyond what it merits.........

Eve · 06/10/2010 10:29

MY DS (11) is an earlobe stroker as well.

We got a dog who loves her ears being stroked.. saves ours.

Poledra · 06/10/2010 10:30

Oh, and despite all her requirements for optimal boobie-fondling, DD3 does not consider the concept of 'Clean hands only down my bra' to be a reasonable request.

Mind you, neither does DH a lot of the time..............

massivemammaries · 06/10/2010 10:31

DS uses the word elbows to describe norks!

Mummagumma · 06/10/2010 10:35

Oh, I find elbows really comforting too. When DP's arm is straight, I like to gently pinch and pull at the loose bit of skin there. It's really cool and wibbly. He used to think it was odd, but has now grown used to my ways. I have a vague memory of doing the same to my dad when I was little, while waiting to cross the road.

kreecherlivesupstairs · 06/10/2010 10:38

My DD likes to wobble the fat on my stomach. When we are sitting on the sofa it doesn't bother me, when we are standing in her playground after school it does. Summer is obviously worse, hands can whip up tops. Winter is great, she can't be arsed to undo my coat.
I know DD is repulsed by my reptilian scaly elbows so she won't touch them.

nineyearoldsarerude · 06/10/2010 10:40

My son used to stroke my elbow all the time when he sucked his thumb-to be be honest I found it really soothing! Unfortunately I persuaded him to stop sucking his thumb at seven and he has not wanted my elbows again.

Lonnie · 06/10/2010 10:50

YANBU it can be so wearing my dd1 its hugs and I love hugs but not 11 in 10 mins its like please please let me drink my coffee last night she had 3 hugs before bedtime then came back 2 mins later wanting one more I am sick with a cold and earinfection and i had to say "Im sorry but omg I need to be left alone please" then off course felt guilty but argh

forpitysake · 06/10/2010 13:42

PMSL at 'elbows'....

tb · 06/10/2010 14:21

DD is 13 nexr weekend and if she is cuddled up to me on the sofa and has her thumb in when she is tired she seems completely unable to stop going on a nipple search with a free finger.

She laughs and apologises , but can't seem to stop doing it. Fortunately she's never done it in front of anyone else.

Note to self - should have stopped bf before 20 months!

annec555 · 06/10/2010 14:39

I have a similar thing with my DS. I carry him on my back and I always know when he is about to go to sleep as he starts stroking and tugging at the skin on the back of my arms. It is a bit off-putting!

Onetoomanycornettos · 06/10/2010 14:50

My nearly seven year old loves my 'cold arms' when she's tired, or indeed any bit of your body which is cold! She's very warm herself a lot (not like me) and seems to find it relaxing stroking a cold arm or holding a cold hand. So, be prepared that this may go on longer than you think...

misdee · 06/10/2010 19:54

she did stroke them a lot today, and dh's as well.

then decided headbutting was the way to go Hmm
