My DD is 4 and I love her like crazy, it overwhelms me sometimes I love her that much! Now I'd really like to have another DC but I don't think I could love another child like I love my DD. I'm really worried if I was to have another I just wouldn't feel the same about him/ her as I do my DD and if Im honest a part of me doesn't want to share how I feel for my DD. But Im as broody as hell and would like another DC!! Argh please tell me your thoughts!!

I believe that your heart grows a size bigger for each child you have. Smile

Talker2010 · 03/10/2010 15:02

You do not feel the same, they are different people

But your capacity for love expands and you will be able to love a second just as much

That was my experience anyway

Do a search for previous threads on the same topic.. it comes up every couple of weeks! Smile

You'll find that every mother EVER, myself included, has been through the same..

And FWIW I can't believe now how much I love my DC2.. It just gets better...

Love multiplies... it doesn't divide. x

I think everyone feels like this when they have their first child. I now have four, and trust me, you do love each one as much. It takes nothing away from your first as you are not sharing a limited amount of love. It really does grow to encompass each child you have.

Thank you that is really reassuring! :) (I tried to do a search but couldn't figure out what to search under!!) gosh this is making me more broody!!

Babies bring their own love with them.

Felt same with ds, when dd came it was true love all over again. She's totally different, the connection is less intense in some ways because she's such an independent and fierce little thing, but the love is there just the same.
Go for it!! Get on with it now!!! The age diff will be the same for yours as it is for mine, it's a lovely age gap!

Ah bless you all, I always thought this about having a second...

unlikely to happen, 42, 3x mc,
pretty much hate H, he won't lift a finger to do anything..

so wouldn't set myself up for that again!

But lovely to see how it works!

I never thought I could possibly love DC2 the way I loved DS1 and spent a pregnancy wracked with guilt about bringing a child into the world who was always going to be second best. In fact I only really had a second child because I wanted DS1 to have a sibling! Then one April night DS2 was born and I fell madly in love at first sight and haven't looked back since! I now have a DS3 who I adore just as much as the other two. I now have three favourites!
