DaisyDaresYOU · 01/10/2010 19:44

Lol sorry, thought he was older.Still stand by what i say though,u will get an ignorant person comment. It woudn't bother me.My ds had an obsession with pink at one point

Skyrg · 01/10/2010 19:46

Good grief! I have to say I wouldn't buy that for a girl!
Perhaps he will hate it in a year?

TheLadyEvenstar · 01/10/2010 19:47

He has a love for horses and had a pink puzzle from marks and spencers which was all horses but someone thought it too girly and ripped it up Sad been trying to replace it for weeks now

OP posts:
Skyrg · 01/10/2010 19:49

Who would rip up a puzzle? Confused

TotorosOcarina · 01/10/2010 19:50

My son (4) has a bed covered in stuffed cats, bears, bush babies and dogs, he LOVES carebears and sleeps in a pink fleece sleepsuit.

He would love that bed cover.

I don't 'push' any of this on him. He has a very 'boyish' 5 yr old brother and I have a baby daughter, he has always chosen girly things and loved pink and purple.

I'm not going to tell him hehas to like blue and cars.

I love his uniqueness!

Theincrediblesulk1 · 01/10/2010 19:58

I like it too! get it for him

withorwithoutyou · 01/10/2010 20:04

this?

withorwithoutyou · 01/10/2010 20:04

wrong thread, sorry!

DaisyDaresYOU · 01/10/2010 20:46

I hate this silly perception that if boys play with girly stuff it will make them gay,its offensive.id stick my my ds no matter what, but girly toys do not make someone gay.grr at ignorant people

Skyrg · 01/10/2010 20:52

Agree Daisy, unfortunately the social pressure kicks in very early, and for some reason people have some very specific ideas of what they want their children to like.

The programme about mothers having boys and wanting girls had me ranting at the tv. I understand people wanting a girl after loads of boys, but I hated the explanations 'I've always wanted to do the girly things, pink clothes, dolls...' If my mother had wanted that she'd have been very disappointed! I was a Thomas the Tank Engine and Power Rangers girl :) Although I did also have dolls.

Dione · 01/10/2010 20:53

Go for it. My DS has a doll (Sophie) and a rainbow hairband that he likes to wear. I wouldn't mind if he was gay (who am I kidding, I would love it!) Unfortunately he shows every sign of being completely hetero. Can I do anything about this?Grin

Drusilla · 01/10/2010 20:54

I think you should get it for him. Even if he goes off it in few months it will be worth for how much he will love it right now :)

DirtyMartini · 01/10/2010 20:57

If it is going to make his little face light up, and even if he only uses it for say a year, I think you should indulge him. I love love LOVE the image of a 3 year old boy saying that duvet cover is "wicked mummy" -- so so sweet. Lovely kid :)

strawberrycake · 01/10/2010 20:58

I always have a giggle that the first ever toy my 4m/o ds has ever taken a shine to is a pink fairy dolly at nursery. He barely notices other toys but he loves his fairy, he's often asleep with her when I get there. He stares at her and crinkles her wings.

DirtyMartini · 01/10/2010 20:59

Sorry but, had a snoop on your profile there. Is that him mopping the wall? lol

He is gorgeous, and if that is your other boy then he is too Grin

CitrusZest · 01/10/2010 20:59

Not if he likes it. I think it's the most hideous thing I've ever seen!

mice · 01/10/2010 20:59

My son has a very nice Peppa Pig Duvet and also Shaun the Sheep, he is 13 and all his friends, including his girlfriend think it is very "cool" !
Let him have what he likes, let him be individual if he wants, it has always worked for my son!

MrsMellowdrummer · 01/10/2010 21:17

I would buy it for him if he loves it!

(Although it is hideous, lol!)

My daughter has a very boyish blue Thomas the Tank Engine type equivalent. There's no difference really.

As long as you can afford to get him another one if he suddenly develops a pink aversion, or if his friends convince him it's too girly.

cheesesarnie · 01/10/2010 21:19

love it although its expensive!

pranma · 01/10/2010 21:46

cath Kidston does a lovely cowboy one that is all horses-I'm not keen on those fantasy ponies-but if he loves it why not??
