DB hasn't been able to see his 8yo DS for over a year and its unlikely he will be in the near future.

DSIL wants to change DN's bedroom into a nursery for DN2 so is removing alot of the stuff and asked me if I would like DN's clothes for DS who is 7, which are mainly H&M and Next and virtually brand new. I accepted the kind offer but when she brought them round I forgot one thing....DN is erm.....fat..... and wears age 12-13 clothes. DS is normal 7 year old size, these clothes would be too big for DD1 who is 10! So now I'm stuck with what to do, do I keep them for the next 5 years til they fit him or ebay them and use the funds to buy DS clothes that would fit him (he could do with some!). I could give them back but our family mainly consists of girls except for DS, DN1 and DN2 who is 7 months old. We are also not that close so I reckon if there was anyone else they would have got first offer IYSWIM.

Not actually going to do anything yet but wondered WWYD?

I'm confused, is DN(1) their child DSIL's child? Sorry being nosey Blush

Anyway since you don't want the clothes could you maybe suggest that they sell the clothing themselves to help pay for DN(2)?

Or you could ask them if they would mind you selling some of it as it far too big for DS and he is needing so it would be a huge help. Would also maybe hang onto some of your fave bits for DS as he will grow into them eventually but then I do buy clothes in sizes to big for my DS if it's on sale and is very nice :o

YABU to sell it. Tell them that actually it is too big, is there anyone else they would like to offer it to or they could sell it on. If they decline and tell you to keep it, then you can choose what to do with it.

Aah I see :o

Sounds like a good idea if they say you can keep it then sell it and maybe give them some of the proceeds.

IF you decide to sell them DO ask and get permission first.
Or you could pass them on to someone else with a more appropriate sized child. But again talk to your DB 1st. even if just a brief in passing " those clothes from X , don;t really work for DS, mind if we pass them on again?"
Selling them behind DBs back will only annoy.
