To call my friends mother, as I'm worried he's 'missing'?

He went to London this past weekend and stopped off at a mutual friends house to collect some of my things I'd left there (by things I mean boxes of books and chests of drawers etc)

Last I heard he had collected it fine, then he saw my exH at his house and saw his friends in Luton at 11pm Sunday but left theirs at 4am to drive back north.

He is a very, very reliable friend and I can't imagine why he hasn't been in touch yet.

It is not just me that is worried, people have been in touch with me too to ask if he had dropped my things safely, and do I know where he is because they have x y z planned.

It's just so out of character I can't help but worry.

Could you phone his work/girlfriend? Do you know what route he usually takes?

He is self employed as an IT networker/engineer and very, very private, which makes it tricky.

I just don't want to raise an alarm that doesn't need to be raised either.

He normally drives the A1 as he hates motorways. I've actually checked for accidents already on the monday he'd have been driving.

Did anything flag up? Does he have facebook? Have you been to his flat ? (sorry for all the questions- it's happened to me before too )

No harm in a quick call tomorrow if you're worried.
I'm sure he'll be fine though - proably just sidetracked or something

Calling his mum to ask if he's back from his trip doesn't have to sound like raising an alarm though - you could say you're ringing her cos you've lost his number or something.

Yes, call his mum and say you've lost his number and you want to arrange about your stuff. It's quite likely that his mum will say 'Oh TDWP glad you called, [friend] had his phone pinched and has lost your number' or something.

Yes that all sounds so much more reasonable!

I was imagining him in a ditch on the A1 and the funeral and them all shaking their heads and saying if only he hadn't gone to get TDWP's things he'd have been back earlier.

So I will try him again in the morning, then his mum, then try to calm the fuck down.

He is fine.

My phone is a twat , I just got four texts from him in a row and countless others.

He went to Wales after Luton for a job and didn't think I'd be worried.
