To let the kids?

See me and huasband sharing a bath? We have been having a rough time, so need to talk, having 3 kids means lots of stop start chatting. We both think we talk better in the bath, no easy way to storm off. So we were just having a bath, no funny business, and our daughter came in with the phone. It was my mum. Who then went off on one that it was disgusting that our kids see us naked together. Fair enough you may not want to share your bath, or let the kids come in. But is it really disgusting?

I dont think its weird if your kids see you naked personally. I wouldnt worry about what your mum thinks in this case tbh.

Not disgusting at all. Some people can be so funny about nakedness especially in relation to children.

A friend of DD's dad got funny with me once when I mentioned as part of a debate conversation that I sometimes share a bath with DD (3) and have done since she was a baby. What is the big deal? Hmm

Oh please!! your mum is a prude...nothing wrong with the naked body my DDs see me nude all the time and their dad too..they pass him his towel in the shower!!..maybe its a generational thing? Hmm

Completely normal. Lovely that your children grow up thinking it is normal.
I also share a bath with my children. Can't believe anyone thinks sharing the bath with their DC is wrong?

As a side issue, I always said to my DH that I want our children to grow up seeing us snuggle up together on the sofa, have a kiss etc as I want them to know we are loving and affectionate. My own parents never touched each other (literally) in front of us and I grew up thinking that was normal.:( I would hate that for my children.
Maybe it's a generational thing

Sorry but bless your Mum! It's not weird for you and DH to have a bath together in front of the DC's at all...it is for your Mum's generation...but not for ours.

think i should possibly mention, thers is no way its a generational thing..my mum and i were both young mums, she is still only in her 40s...

Well it's not quite as bad as the time ds declared "I got in mum and dad's bed and they were both in their bottoms" Which is his definition of naked

YANBU - nothing wrong with it at all. I can't believe your Mum is in her 40's and came out with that - actually, scrub that - even on here you get people with weird attitudes to things Grin

DH and I bath together with DD - family bath night is fab! Your Mum'd have a shit fit at that Grin

I got told by my friend that I need to stop DS1 walking into the bathroom/bedroom when I am in the shower/bath/bed/getting dressed because it is wrong for him to see me naked and also that I should begin to wean DS2 out of my bed/bath/shower.....DS1 is 12 and DS2 just turned 3.

Oh God OutOut - I'm older than your Mum Blush. I have no problem with showing affection - cuddling etc - in the house and often walk around with no kit on - don't care - their problem, not mine, so they're used to it. Having said that, I have DDs
.....off to bed with a nice mug of cocoa.....

Oooooh - I do remember walking into parents hotel bedroom on holidays - I was about 10-12ish, and seeing Mum on top of Dad in one of the single beds. Mum was a bit flustered but I just had a conversation with them and then left - hadn't a clue Blush

until this summer dh & i both quite comfortable with being naked around dd. then, on holiday, he came out of the shower & she just said 'i can see your thing - it's disgusting!'

i think dh was a little upset, i just found it funny.

quite often one, or 2 of them will get in with us, ( its a fairly large bath!!) and i have the opinion that they KNOW we are in there, were not hiding waiting for them to catch us so we can laugh at their discomfort when they see nakey bits! if and when it bothers them, they will stop coming in.
dd, they all see us naked, none of them worry.
it was just the way my mum thought we were being disgusting! why is nakedness disgusting?
