Oh dear...there was a thread here about useless kitchen utensils, wasn't there? Unless it was a dream, in which case........PutOnThePan wanders off wringing hands pensively!

PutOnThePan - there is definatley a useless kitchen utensils thread, which includes the infamous mushroom cleaner.

I've just been chuckling at it - you are not going mad :)
