Sending my dc to nursery with a cough and a runny nose?

My dc has a clear runny nose (the past two days) and now has developed a tickly dry cough. Dc goes to nursery half days every day but I feel a bit guilty. Other than a pretty consistent tickle and the occasional sneeze followed by clear runny gunge there is no there sign of illness.

Would you frown upon me if it was your nursery or pre-school?

Taking into consideration that's where the bug was picked up I think it's ok as there are other snotty children there but dc has the cough that brings him more attention than the others

AIBU to send him? If it was green gunge and a chesty cough dc would stay at home.

Thanks for reading.

children went to DDs nursery with coughs and runny noses all the time. I think fever, or grizzle and unhappy/uncomfortable with it and he should stay home, if he is fine in himself and no fever, should be fine. Otherwise many children would never be able to leave the house!

Hope he gets better soon.

Aye, send him! Unless he is unhappy he'll prob have lots of fun!

YANBU - most of the children would never be in in the winter if they were kept off with runny noses and coughs

I do not think YABU. If you kept kids off school/nursery for every cough/runny nose/sneeze then they would never be there!! Our nursery has a strict poilcy regarding vomitting or diahorrea (sp?) but are generally fine about runny noses.

if he is eating, sleeping ang generally happy, let them go.
If they feel crappy/not eating etc, i'd keep them off.

This came up on BBC Breakfast a while ago and the doctor said unless there was continuous raised temperture ~(take it more than once) and or tummy upset (not tummy ache) then they should go otherwise they will never be there!
