because the idiots at the school in Jamie's American Food Revolution thought that potatoes count as a vegetable?!

therefore concluding that a beige meal of chicken burger with fries (salad optional which virtually nobody had) was healthier than stir fry with 7 different vegetables?

ok so I didn't actually shout, as that would've woken DD up Hmm - but seriously. these people are in charge of the health of the city's children and they are doing it wrong

I think as an edible plant (or plant with edible parts) a potato IS considered a vegetable..? What would you be classing it as?
So that might might BU. The rest of obviously not so U!

I was amazed...

the logic is just totally absent in her argument! I would not have been able to not laugh in her face if I was Jamie; he just looked utterly perplexed

"there's not a cup and a fourth of veg in your line....." and there is in chicken burger and CHIPS???!! She didn't even LISTEN to his ingredients in the stir fry

well yes they are vegetables but they count as a carbohydrate.

carrots are have a high carb content as well. Most root veg do.

yes, but in terms of 5-a-day potatoes don't count whereas things like carrot do. I seem to remember it's because of the starchiness and lack of other nutrients?

Potatoes are actually a good source of minerals, vitamins and starch.

And they're a vegetable too! Smile

ok I didn't word my OP very well sorry... I know it's a vegetable but it doesn't count as one of your five-a-day, in terms of what you eat as a balanced diet it counts as a carbohydrate
