I was meant to be in work at 8.30 and I've only just got here. I arranged for DD to go into before school care which starts at 7.45am and set out at 7.15am so we'd be sure of arriving on time. The bus took forever to turn up and then the traffic was so bad we didn't get to school (normally 15-20 minutes) until 8.20am. Then the bus into town took ages to turn up and when it did it was so crowded I had to stand right at the front next to the driver and I've finally got to work 2 hours after I left home and it normally takes me about 45 minutes or an hour on a bad day including changing buses, dropping dd off etc.

I've now had the riot act read to me for being late (even though I phoned and explained) and just feel like curling up in the corner and crying. Apparantly I should have set out earlier and organised proper childcare. I did both

Dont cry (hands dilemma a cuppa and choccy biscuit).

Its really not your fault you were late - these things happen and whoever gave you a bollocking is a twat who needs to realise that you have no control whatsoever over the amount of traffic on the road.

thanks, I've calmed down a bit now after a cup of coffee. I've had better mornings Grin

ah yep it's crap. My car died recently & I've decided not to replace it for now. So my 10 minute commute to work is now 45 minute bus journey ON A GOOD DAY! On a bad day its 60 min plus. Really it should take 25 min including my walk at one end, but we have to go via the traffic hell hole that is Hammersmith. It's much worse going home ;(

c0rns1lk · 28/09/2010 13:28

so you went in as a favour and they had a go at you? Pigs.

Make your boss a cup of coffee and spit in it.
