to want to thank the lady in a blue mazda on M25

mw27pink · 25/09/2010 23:01

We were travelling on M25 this morning at about 9.30 on the fast lane. Couple of cars before us suddenly slowed down, but the breaks in our car did not work. All I remeber is me shouting at my husband to slow down as I could see us crashing into this convertable blue mazda(not sure about the make). The lady herself was able to break on time and get out of our way by 10 cm...I am still shaking. We were going out for a fun family day and it could have gone soo wrong. We never got a chance to say thank you to her as we had to move out of the motorway all togather, but I have been thinking of that woman all day as I dont think she realised how lucky she was avoiding us at 70ml/h crashing on her back. So whoever you are THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

Tharnks? Thanks.

prozacfairy · 26/09/2010 15:29

Shock at anyone being so irresponsible.

Are you thanking the lady in the blue Mazda just because she did the smart thing and got the fuck away from you as fast as she could, saving you all from injury or worse (this time) or because she saved you a horrendous crash that your DH would be solely responsible for and getting a right bollocking?

cumfy · 26/09/2010 15:34

I imagine she is one of those drivers that has a 'princess on board' sticker too

Would be quite apropos......

After all princesses and cars go together rather like Kenwood and liquidiser :o

ADealingMummy · 26/09/2010 15:41

I agree with ''Backward''.

OP, you and your husband scare the shit out of me too.

To think my little girl is sharing road space with DANGEROUS FOOLS like you.

Lulumaam · 26/09/2010 15:44

wow ! you must be joking

to be so glib about your irresponsibility

would you have been posting this ridicolous thread had the woman not taken evasive action and you had smashed into her ?

if you had hit her, would you have blamed her for not being quick enough?

you , OP , are a fool of the highest order.

MadameCheese · 26/09/2010 16:28

Well said Lulu, you might as well not use seatbelts too OP.

msyikes · 26/09/2010 16:38

Good grief

Please God, PLEASE keep your dh, your "faulty brakes" and your arsehole tank (oh sorry I mean seven seater) off the roads when all other human beings are on them- ie forever.

msyikes · 26/09/2010 16:41

And you're thanking the Mazda driver for not letting your dh kill her?????
And you're glad she got out of your way as it would have otherwise spoilt your family day out??? Yes, I would imagine killing another, inncoent, motorist would spoil a fun family day out rather, wouldn't it.
It might have spoilt her day a bit too.
I have never read a post that has made me so angry- initially I was convinced it was a joke.

KaraStarbuckThrace · 26/09/2010 16:41

'The traffic can suddenly slow down from no- where and you're breaking hard sometimes. It's a shock when it happens, and doesn't necessarily mean anyone's at fault.'

Wrong completely wrong - it is the fault of the drivers who drive too fucking close. And why did the traffic slowed down suddenly anyway? Because some tosser decided to cut in on someone or they are avoiding another accident [anger]

And yes I do drive and I obey the 2 second rule - which is at least doubled in poor driving conditions.

If you do not understand that you need to keep a big enough gap behind - and that includes allow space for the twat tailgating you - you should not be driving on the motorway.

My DH drives about 60,000 miles a year and is a safe driver - he has attended driver safety courses similar to pass plus and the advance driving course through the company he previously worked for. Plus he was nearly killed by some careless fucker overtaking on a blind bend.

He is a safe driver but no matter how carefully drivers he can't control the actions of others and seeing some of the comments on here which thankfully are in the minority, no wonder there are so many accidents on the motorways.

KaraStarbuckThrace · 26/09/2010 16:43

Arse they should be 'big enough gap ahead' of course.

Dh and I drove back from Bury to Teesside yesterday and the M62 had more than it's fair share of idiots :(

DanceInTheDark · 26/09/2010 16:44

So you were driving on the motorway, cars in front slowed (not stopped) but your DH had to "pump the brakes" but they didn't work and almost caused a pile up yet you carried on on your fun day out?

juneybean · 26/09/2010 16:49

The biggest thing that panics me when driving is other drivers! LOL, I've been on the A1 in the left hand lane and watched 1 car from the left hand lane and 1 car from the right hand both go into the centre lane at the same time! Bloody terrifying.

Goblinchild · 26/09/2010 16:54

So ladies, are we all still happy that she and her family are alright?
Or rather disappointed that they didn't hit the barrier and end up off the road permanently ( injuries only to the car and two adults, all children and other motorists unharmed. I am very specific in my fantasies. Grin)

lou33 · 26/09/2010 16:58

my bf has to sort out the mess left by drivers like the op, as beside being a roadside recovery mechanic, he is also on call 4 nights a week as an incident support manager for the highways agency

he says drivers like the op and her h are dickheads who need a brief spell behind bars for their stupidity, and for putting others lives at risk

he doesnt mince his words

lou33 · 26/09/2010 17:00

though he also says brakes either work or they dont, so the op's h was more likely to just be driving like a twat(i.e tailgating) and didnt have enough time to brake properly

either way its wrong

agedknees · 26/09/2010 17:04

lou, I used to nurse people who where hit in their cars by idiots like the OP and her dh.

Maybe if the OP had to watch a family distressed at the sight of their loved ones in ICU, she would not be so flippant about using a car with faulty brakes.

backwardpossom · 26/09/2010 17:06

So ladies, are we all still happy that she and her family are alright?

Well, yes. What kind of person wishes another a deadly accident - particularly when others would likely be involved? Hmm

msyikes · 26/09/2010 17:09

I'm happy they're alright, no one would wish an accident on a family, or on a pair of dickheads with no sense of responsibility.

But I'm absolutely terrified of going on the M25 again knowing drivers like this are on the loose and apparently think it's a bit of a giggle- ie, irresponsible drivers (like us!)

CarGirl · 26/09/2010 17:13

Can't believe you think it's the "fast lane", it's not it's an OVERTAKING lane, you overtake and then pull back in.

Goblinchild · 26/09/2010 17:15

Read my post again backwoodpossom. No deadly injuries wished upon anyone, no others involved.
Just a written-off car and something in the damage to idiots line that will keep them off the road for a year or ten.

Goblinchild · 26/09/2010 17:16

Anyone else on this thread with teenage children who are considering learning to drive? Or just me?

backwardpossom · 26/09/2010 17:20

It was your post I quoted - you asked if I was still happy that she and her family are alright. Yes, I am.

Animation · 26/09/2010 17:22

Goblin - you wish the adults were badly injured do you? Hmm

Kara - you and your husband are just too perfect. Hmm

lou33 · 26/09/2010 20:12

Agedknees i agree.

Bf has been called to more than one fatality in the past too:(

applecrumbleandcream · 26/09/2010 23:18

Wow - no they're not 'irresponsible' for taking their child(ren) out for a 'family fun day' in a car knowing that it had defective brakesAngry Totally unbelieveable how anybody could be so stupid!!
