OK. Need more info.
What's wrong with putting them to sleep indoors?

Odysseus · 25/09/2010 22:49

Well he doesn't want to sleep in his nice snug cot in the warm, so I thought I might try outside the back door in the whistling wind. Might be more his cup of tea. At least I wouldn't be able to hear him!!!

It's cold and dark, so yes.

How old is he? Might I suggest you put your coat on and go and have a cup of tea in the garden for 10 minutes.

You don't hear him
He stays nice and warm
Sanity restored

Grin

Neither of my children slept. It's hideous, I feel your pain.

They do now though!

YABU wild dogs might eat him. Put him in the cupboard under the stairs instead and close the door. That will muffle the sound surely? If not a garden shed or garage will suffice.

Dd1 didn't sleep much for the first few months either.

Odysseus, you made me grin with recognition.
My DS (2yo) had a tantrum about going to sleep tonight. He says that he doesn't like his bed.
Eventually we reached a compromise. He is asleep on the bedroom floor. I snuck a blanket over him once he was asleep.

I digress - rantyknickers' suggestion of a cup of tea and a bit of a wander while your baby is safe in cot sounds like a sensible idea.

Odysseus · 25/09/2010 23:08

He's 10 mo. He is currently making sticking
my head in the oven seem like a good prospect. Agree that Harry Potter's cupboard is a good compromise. For either him or me. I don't care. As long as I can't hear him!!

Oh I might try that one with my fighting siblings. We have loads of sticks in the yard. Although I wouldn't put it past them to beat each other half to death Hmm

piprabbit · 25/09/2010 23:14

Hmmmm - well you could try sticking your head in the oven. Ours is electric so wouldn't achieve much beyond blocking out a little of the sound, getting burnt fat on my clothes and reminding me that I'm too much of a slob to clean it properly.

IMoveTheStars · 25/09/2010 23:16

needa - who was that?

YANBU to put your child outside.. go for a walk about, the cold will knock them out. tbh, I would be tempted to put a 10mo out the back door for 10 mins to get them to sleep.. what is it about the freshcold air that knocks them out?

hope he goes to sleep sooon

Odysseus · 25/09/2010 23:17

I think he might have. However my ears are still ringing so I can't be sure....
