I'm 34 weeks pregnant and I really wanna make up the cot and put the clothes away in my baby girls nursery, AIBU?
By make up the cot I mean put the bedding on etc and set it up so as soon as baby comes it's fully ready?
I have done my bag and now I'm just at a loss on what to do now the I'm playing the waiting game.

It might get a bit dusty in 6 weeks but if you have a change of bedding to swap over when you bring the baby home, why not?

curlymama · 25/09/2010 21:54

I think I did all that earlier than 34 weeks! And the cot didn't even get slept in for ages, ds was in a moses basket, so everything had to be washed and replaced by the time it got used. But it looked gorgeous!

Plumm · 25/09/2010 21:57

I don't think 34 weeks is too early. If you leave it to late s/he will have nothing to come home too.

onimolap · 25/09/2010 21:58

Depends: are either you or DP susperstitious about tempting fate?

rpickett · 25/09/2010 22:02

No not supersitious, and we have a change of bedding so can do that when we get back from hospital, I just think it would look more real or immenent(sp?) if I made it up.

New cot, new bedding, surely it's a good idea to "practice" ready for when you need to do speed changes at 3 in the morning? Wink

I set ours up early, I didn't have the willpower to wait.

Iggi999 · 25/09/2010 22:49

I thought you were going to say you'd just got your bfp!
I don't see how making the bed up is any more "tempting fate" than having a cot etc.

Fluffypoms · 25/09/2010 22:52

yanbu do it Smile

rpickett · 25/09/2010 23:48

YAY!! I've done it, I think it looks so cute and definatly more welcoming then before, although I may have overdone the pink, but with two boys I have really had enough of blue.

I made the nursery up at about 36 weeks. It looked fab, I used to lurk in there and imagine what it would be like to put my little baby in the cot...

...she's 2.8 years now and never spent a single night in there. In fact, 15 minutes one night is the only time. Little beggar! Hmm :o

isw · 26/09/2010 09:51

I had DD at 34 weeks and had NOTHING organised, no cot, no clothes nothing baby related in my house! It was all abit of a shock so i would say do evrything you can now :)

prozacfairy · 26/09/2010 10:20

YANBU go for it. Smile

I had a shocking lack of willpower. Blush by 34 weeks I had washed folded and put away all the clothes and bedding about 3 times. I'd also practised folding the pram loads of several times and made up the moses basket aleast twice.

Moses basket was huge waste of time as colicky DD spemt first 6 weeks welded into my arms and by the time the colic calmed down she was too big Hmm

MaudOHara · 26/09/2010 10:25

With PFB nursery was all ready, clothes washed, folded and put away; cot and moses basket made up etc etc by 30 weeks

With NSC we had to detour via Mothercare on way home from hospital for all the things that I hadn't got organised.

Have fun getting set up already its an exciting time Smile yanbu

I wouldn´t have bothered putting bedding on if it´s just going to be unused & need changing when baby comes home tbh.

Well, I might have put it on to see what it looked like & then put it away again as making up a cot isn´t that difficult, is it?
