I recently dented the front of our car by driving into a big stone flower pot in a car park. DH suggested I went to garage to get a quote for getting it fixed... I went to local garage who gave me a paper with the quote on it saying it would be £280.
I agreed and had work done, now been issued final bill for £600. I questioned it, garage guy says it's because the original quote was only for labour and the paint job and not the cost of parts. I questioned further and he said it is standard to quote like this.
I got home and looked at quote and see in the small print it says parts at manufacturers recommended retail price, but in that column it is left blank and the other prices are for labour and materials... But it lists new bumper lower down in work to be done.
I feel sick, don't have £600.... Was I ripped off or is it standard practice to quote like that?
Either way, have to find money somewhere I guess but AIBU to feel cheated?
