DS(4) has lost our camera in a little wooded area near our home. I'm tempted to buy a metal detector to help me find it. WIBU to return it afterwards?

I was hoping you wouldn't say that ...

Borrow one fron local treasure hunters?
Or bribe the scout group to look?

tethersend · 23/09/2010 12:37

That just sounds like good sense to me.

nikkershaw · 23/09/2010 12:37

couldyou hire one?

TrillianAstra · 23/09/2010 12:37

Yes.

Could you hire one?

\link{http://www.hss.com/g/49530/Metal-Detector.html\here} cheap

PigletJohn · 23/09/2010 12:38

unless you think he has buried it, why do you want a metal detrector?

how do you know he didn't swap it?

KnitterNotTwitter · 23/09/2010 12:39

is it worth a claim on the household insurance?

YourCallIsImportant · 23/09/2010 12:39

Hiring's a good idea, I didn't think you'd be able to hire one....

Contact your local metal-detector club and ask them to come out and help you find it. My Dad belongs to one and he's had lots of fun finding chucked-in-a-temper engagement rings and all sorts of other stuff.

Serendippy · 23/09/2010 12:40

I thought you might hope I wouldn't say that Grin

But seriously, it is like buying a dress to wear to a party and then trying to return it. If you need one, buy, hire or borrow one.

Sorry!

Ask on Freecycle :)

You wouldn't be the first person to do it, nor the last, but there are other options.

A camera is pretty big and there aren't many loose leaves around yet, so I'd be suprised if a metal detector would help much.

I'd do whatever you are going to do today though, it's supposed to rain heavily later on.

YourCallIsImportant · 23/09/2010 16:13

It's a little digital camera, about the size of a cigarette packet.

I've sent my 7yo and all her little mates into the woods to find it.

I'll probably go and hire one tomorrow if it doesn't turn up. That'll keep the kids occupied for a while.
