i see there's a few of us in the same boat! i move next thursday (offically, but i collect the keys tomorrow) i'm having a break and avoiding the shed.

I've done the bathrooms, dd's room and the front room and airing cupboard! kitchen, hallways/cupboards, ds's rooms and my room to go- and outside!

Just a tip though- you WILL need more boxes, and if you get free recycling bags from the council go and stock up- fab for linens etc Grin

dinkystinky · 23/09/2010 11:04

I move next Friday - have packed ooh about 3 boxes of books. Really need to get off arse and do packing but no energy when get home from work in evenings. Will blitz it over the weekend... not

You probably ABU but I HATE packing it is just the most soul destroying thing ever, I struggle for motivation packing before/after a weekend away, let alone moving house.

Do you have any friends/family you can emotionally blackmail invite to come round and help you? Make a big pot of tea/coffee, provide a selection of Biscuits and crack on together? I found that REALLY helped last time we moved, not just because of the extra manpower but it was much more motivating.

Good luck with the move, I hope your new house is fab - linky to details?

natandchris10 · 23/09/2010 11:43

hmm emotional blackmail asking for help sounds like a good idea!!

hope this link works? we cant move in untill 15th october fingers crossed on completion?!!,so we have to stay with family Hmm untill then

I'm moving a week today and have barely started packing! We've done the CDs and books and some office stuff but all the day-to-day stuff is still in cupboards and I haven't a clue where to begin.

natandchris10 · 23/09/2010 13:06

update=

i have packed our books/cds/games and realised its lunchtime so i deserve a break

OP posts:
stealthpony · 23/09/2010 13:25

Packing is nothing but evil. I despise it more than words can say. I hate it more than I hate that Twilight shite.

gingerkirsty · 23/09/2010 13:38

Grin you def deserve a break - use the time wisely and do that link properly - it just went to the home page (pardon the pun) rather than the specific house!

reallywoundup · 23/09/2010 13:54

i escaped packing and went and bought paint Hmm still got to do the shed though [urghhh]

natandchris10 · 23/09/2010 14:11

o ginge im sorry.. urm i will try

OP posts:
reallywoundup · 23/09/2010 16:13

has everyone gone to pack [worried] i look at the house and feel sick tbh- i cannot believe that everything is going to manage to get itself into boxes

i've packed the shoes now, and taken all the pics off the walls Grin waiting for the removal fairies now!

how is everyone else getting on?

natandchris10 · 23/09/2010 16:48

hi really!!

well i made some good progres!

i have emptied the storage cupboard and the contents are across the lounge floor so i guess i should try sorting it out...

i also took a trip to argos for more vacuum bags which i say have come in handy!

i also took picturs!! yay xx

gingerkirsty · 23/09/2010 16:52

Excellent, well done you :)

natandchris10 · 23/09/2010 16:57

pictures..sorry i can spell honest...

OP posts:
reallywoundup · 23/09/2010 17:22

i'm scared of the loft..... and the shed- there's spiders in both. Dh isn't getting involved unless i give him specific instruction- i think its safest all round tbh, he's doing all the running around and bits and bobs- just sent him for curtain hooks, wine and sandpaper Wink

well done on the cupboard- its amazing how much crap lurks around the house isn't it! chuck EVERYTHING unless it moves or is essential in some way- you really don't need the instruction booklet for the tv that blew up 4 years ago Grin GOOD LUCK

natandchris10 · 23/09/2010 19:54

the cupboard was full like literally fell out when i opened the door...

i got it down to a little pile of what we actually 'need'

i have packed the kitchen aswell so made progress this afternoon.

hmmmmm wine!? i dont drink but im temtped lol

OP posts:
reallywoundup · 23/09/2010 22:23

i'm done for the day now, i've still got to tackle:
ds's room (mostly packed)
my room (not touched... dh keeps moving things into piles!)
kitchen
shed
loft
garden
under stairs

But i'm too excited about getting the keys tomorrow to do anything else Grin

CatPower · 24/09/2010 08:34

DS is off school today so I've told him we're having an adventure.

"If we clear out the cupboard under the stairs, we might find the secret door that leads to Narnia...!"

He's battering the door wanting to get started whilst I'm sat here with coffee and toast. Eeeeexcellent!

Hope everyone else is getting on well with the packing!
