My fellow MNettes, I put it to you that they Mumsnet) are being thoroughly unreasonable.

Their crime?

To use a Jammy dodger (surely the Prince if not the King of biscuits) as a sign of annoyance.

Look at it... Biscuit.
Imagine that lovely shortbread-y type biscuit with a lovely jammy centre. How can you not be happy thinking about it?

Biscuit

And they're not just a biscuit, oh no!
They've saved the world!

Biscuit

Oh yes, it's true!!!

The Darleks would have had us but for the self-sacrificing Jammy dodger mistaken for a self-destruct button.

Never has so much been owed to so few, in fact, one biscuit.

It's the favorite of millions, so why a "no comment" my friends?

Biscuit

The Jammy dodger speaks loudly indeed.

For quality, for jamminess, for earth!

So why are Mumsnet running this dastardly campaign to do them down?

I put it to you my fellow friends.

Are Mumsnet being unreasonable?

pinkbasket · 22/09/2010 17:04

highonahill - it came about because Gordon Brown didn't answer when he was asked what his favourite biscuit was. I think it transpired he hadn't seen it.

AgentZigzag · 22/09/2010 17:19

Are you sure you're not a pedant nickel? I was led to believe you can be one without actually being aware of it.

highonahill · 22/09/2010 17:23

Ahh - now I get it. It was the publicity about the Gordon Brown biscuit questions that brought me to Mumsnet in the first place. But hadn't connected it.

nickelbabe · 22/09/2010 17:24

i am a pedant.
i was being pedantic
Grin

but i promise i wasn't just being a pedant then running - i was coming back! Grin

promise!

StealthPolarBear · 22/09/2010 17:45

Didn't it start out as a choc chip cookie and people said it just looked like a face covered in acne?
So they changed it to the jammy dodger

And whoever said bourbons are evil - you are right. Chocolate imitation Angry

AgentZigzag · 22/09/2010 17:46

I think it started out as a jammy but with eyes stealth?

StealthPolarBear · 22/09/2010 17:50

did it?

Easywriter · 22/09/2010 19:01

Well I'll be danged!!

Penny you do seem to be onto something. Is that OK then? Or are we not happy that a biscuit that bears even the vaguest of resemblances to a Jammy dodger is used for no comment??

I think I'm not happy, it's too closely related.

Custard creams, they're like marmite. You either want them had up for crimes against baked confectionery or love 'em.
Frankly, they're war criminals as far as I'm concerned.

However, Bourbons are definitely the sh*%e of biscuits.

Suncottage · 22/09/2010 20:46

Well everyone while we are being food related, may I ask this?

Tonight I was going to make macaroni cheese for supper. I have no macaroni, nor any cheese or milk.

I have penne pasta and a can of custard. Will they notice? It is the same colour and texture.

Trusting in my fellow Mumsnetters to tell me the truth.

AgentZigzag · 22/09/2010 20:56

Naaaa Suncottage, just pretend you can taste macaroni cheese and look at them at bit Hmm if they question you.

They wont notice a thing.

I tell the truth.

AnxiousLand · 22/09/2010 23:14

prefer a chocolate eclair or 20

seenyertoeslately · 22/09/2010 23:57

Yes, MN is being unreasonable to use a jammy dodger for 'no comment'.

Jammy dodgers are sickly, oversweet and taste of artificial things. They should be used in response to a comment that you find sugary and insincere. Prince of Biscuits, my sweet custard filling!

Anenome · 23/09/2010 00:08

YTABU

Because I dont see why a biscuit points to no comment...is it meant to show the user has gone off for a biscuit break because they can't be bothered to comment?

I stand by my earlier (on another thread) request for an "arse" sign...when people are being an arse and you are lost for words...a little arse emoticon would be perfect.

seenyertoeslately · 23/09/2010 11:29

Is that what bourbons are supposed to be, chocolate? Well, dip my rich tea in cocoa and call me a slob! I thought they were to do with the French royal family of that name.

So why is a Garibaldi called that?

Blatherskite · 23/09/2010 14:27

Had to show you guys this
