Can some one help me work this out as I am very confused.
We have 3 children & have not received a CT payment sinece May 2006 - we were told in 2006 that we had been over paid by £620 so future payments would be recoverage payments.

Not heard anything from them since today when they are wanting us to pay them £40 by the end of Oct.

AIBU in thinking that it doesn't take 4 tax years to pay £620 & still need an over paid figure to be paid now?

We have had no contact with these people since 2006 & now all of a sudden we owe them mmoney.

That does sound strange but I have never been able to work them out either. I'm currently receiving credits that I am 99% certain they are going to demand paid back next year, but they won't stop them!

Call the helpline and see if they can tell you what's going on - if you haven't updated them of your circumstances in 4 years I can't see how they can know whether you should be paying them or not?

I phoned them today & the women told me to write in & dispute it.
I asked her how much the recoverage amounts were but she couldn't tell me - I'm not to bright with the old maths but doesn't that work out about £12 a month, how can we still owe money after 4 years of repayments unless we were only entitled to 20 pence a day? [hmmm]

I couldn't be bothered to hold (and be charged for being on hold) all afternoon so I phoned a different number - for overseas.
