Marmite is the food of the gods. In this house we have a split - you can like either marmite or peanut butter BUT NOT both.

Sariska · 18/09/2010 15:24

Marmite would be my desert island luxury, no question.

Bumperlicious · 18/09/2010 15:52

I love it, had to have it for lunch after seeing this thread Grin

Toast has to be lightly done, lots of butter then thinly spread as LTR says.

DH doesn't like it on toast, prefers it in a sandwich with cheese, but I prefer it on toast. Although I am partial to a marmite and cucumber sandwich like another poster.

Actually, once upon a long long time ago, I used to have marmite and peanut butter, together, on bread. I hope that doesn't mean I'm damned for all eternity. I gave it up, honest.

Marmite? Yuk! Bovril on toast, now that is yummy!

prettyfly1 · 18/09/2010 20:09

Oh marmite - my old friend. Spread on toast with melty butter and a cup of sweet tea - wintry morning bliss, early evening heaven and mid afternoon delight!!

SirBoobAlot · 18/09/2010 20:15

I hate marmite, but on toast its wonderful.

LacyLeggins · 18/09/2010 20:46

mmmmmmmmmm marmite! love it! on toast or in cheese sarnies, yum yum!

diddl · 19/09/2010 09:48

Oh that silver lidGrin

What is the point of it?

Surely you´d decant it all into something else if you didn´t like the container, or put some onto the table in a small dish or somethingConfused

DD just had marmite on a waffle. What hell is that? She is 9.4 and odd though. We are all Marmite lovers here although the tiddly tiny pot that I got from Delhaize for nearly 4 euros only lasted a couple of days. We are going to the UK for a couple of days next month I will definitely be looking out for the super strong stuff.
Vegemite is shit and Bovril is bloody horrible.

ScroobiousPip · 19/09/2010 10:02

Had marmite and cheese on toast for supper - heaven. Costs a fortunate to buy the 'proper' stuff out here so our UK visitors are required requested to pack big jars of the stuff in their luggage when they visit.

snugglejunkie · 19/09/2010 10:03

Thick toast topped with butter, marmite & mayonnaise accompanied by a bucket of tea: Excellent hangover cure. FACT.

PurpleOne · 22/09/2010 02:30

how do you make proper marmite n cheese on toast?

looneytune · 22/09/2010 14:40

Not sure about others but I toast my bread, put marmite on it then layer the cheese and put under grill like normal cheese on toast :)

TiggyD · 22/09/2010 14:47
