Ahhh my favourite food.

It has to be wholemeal bread, butter and a thin spreading of marmite.

Or have you tred it melted with butter, mixed with grated parmesan (or cheddar) and mixed into hot spaghetti? Bloody marvelous...

parkj83 · 17/09/2010 15:53

Nope, YANBU, but has to be with butter!

nickelbabe · 17/09/2010 15:54

i have a feeling that only marmite lovers are answering this thread.
i feel ganged-up against. :(

MadameCheese · 17/09/2010 15:55

My nan used to make the best marmite on toast when I was younger, good times...Did anyone try the special version made with champagne? It was super lush! Ha ha Mini

Oh noo - now I am craving Twiglets, because of the mentions here. Am in the US, and we can get Marmite here quite easily, so that is not an issue. We have even found a pleasant replacement for Jaffa Cakes (and have a stash that friends brought in for us) But I had carefully put Twiglets out of my mind - now I desperately want some!!

MadameCheese · 17/09/2010 15:57

Get your coat nickel, and I don't mean in the "you've pulled way" :o

Anniegetyourgun · 17/09/2010 15:58

Ooh, the spaghetti idea sounds amazing.

It really is lovely,(marmite spaghetti) very comforting. I have been known to chuck in peas or chopped parsley but tbh it sullies the taste of the marmite Grin

SixtyFootDoll · 17/09/2010 16:22

and sometimes take marmite n cucmber sandwiches to work for lunch. Yummmy.

PfftTheMagicDragon · 17/09/2010 16:35

We haven't had marmite for months. It's soooo expensive. Every time I see my parents or MIL I beg marmite on toast from them (even if we've popped in for a cup of tea). I feel like an addict. But not ashamed enough to stop asking.

TheThingUpstairs · 17/09/2010 16:50

YANBU, it's great. DH bought me a giant jar which I am probably overly proud of!

niftyfifty · 17/09/2010 16:51

Try it on toast topped with banana - delicious!! Grin

proudnglad · 17/09/2010 16:55

God no I hate bananas - devil's food. Don't defile the Marmite!

Marjee · 17/09/2010 17:00

I thought this thread would be more divided.

FreakoidOrganisoid · 17/09/2010 17:05

mathanxiety · 17/09/2010 18:01

I had three slices of it for breakfast, lots of butter. mmmmmmmm

Butter and Marmite in spaghetti sounds fab.

CupcakesHay · 17/09/2010 18:22

LLLLooooooove it. I live abroad, and can't always get marmite - i bring about 3 jars back in my case, but doesn't always last!

Tabliope · 17/09/2010 18:42

Lidl is selling big jars of Marmite for £2.49. There was something in the news a while back that Marmite is now more expensive than oil for the same quantity - Sainsbury etc were selling it for close to £5 so Lidl's £2.49 is a bargain - I got two as the dates say till Oct 2011.
