to wear my judgey pants?

had to catch a bus today and there were three buggies on board. they were the £15 type buggies with babies in, aged from about 6 months to 1 year. one had no coat on or socks, none had raincovers yet it was raining. despte this the parents were dressed in designer clothing - ralph lauren, uggs, juicy couture etc, with gold jewellery on and all had decent warm coats.

AIBU to judge these parents? i just wish people would put the needs of their dc before their own i guess :(

I would have judged too, although with the raincover thing it's easy to get caught out. One minute it's really sunny, the next it's pissing it down. Do think if the mum considers it cold enough to wear a coat, she should put one on her child.

AnnieLobeseder · 16/09/2010 21:58

No-one is ever unreasonable to wear judgy-pants. I live in mine, they are very comfortable!

IneedacleanerIamalazyslattern · 16/09/2010 22:01

YABU you would have judged me massively then because DS1 never kept socks or shoes on his feet from around 6-7 months old when he figured out he could get them off himself and there were times that I had to get somewhere and just gave up putting them back on every 5 minutes, and even now takes them off as soon as he's inside and off his feet. He will take off his jacket at every chance too.
He also never liked a rain cover and by the age of around one had managed to pull it off so many time it was torn and useless.

Sometimes you just come across a child that likes to take as much off as they can and as a parent there are only so many times you can put everything back on again before you just give up and let people stare at you and judge...but you know what I don't care because you have no idea what kind of parent I am.

Judgey pants are now available as lace leggings?

Well I never.

mooncupflowethover · 16/09/2010 22:05

YABU about the socks..my DS pulls his shoes and socks off constantly. Who can be bothered to put them on 50 times?

Not sure about the rest.

TheVeryLazyLadybird · 16/09/2010 22:05

DH and I had mega oversized judgy-pants on in the hospital waiting room yesterday, it was the only thing that passed the time!

Honestly, I would have judged on the bus too, quietly to myself though Grin

Sassybeast · 16/09/2010 22:06

UGGs are designer clothing ? [shocked]

usualsuspect · 16/09/2010 22:06

there you go op oh and Biscuit

smellmycheese · 16/09/2010 22:06

URBU

My dd is very loved and well cared for, yet whenever we are out, she just loves to pull her shoes and socks off frequently. We also quite often go out without a coat for her, as its sunny when we leave the house and I am v disorganised! Ending with me running throuh the rain, with her laughing her head off shouting 'yay wet and cold mummy!' Blush

I do understand that we all make snap judgements, but sometimes all isnt as it seems

LacyLeggins · 16/09/2010 22:06

slattern i am not talking about toddlers here. as i said in my op they were young babies aged 6 months-1 year. sorry if ive offended.

i agree that any parent can get stuck without a coat etc sometimes. maybe it was more the attitude of the parents that made me judge.

picture this. busy bus, baby screaming, mum texting and dad trying to stick a dummy in the baby's mouth when clearly the baby does not want the dummy, no affection what so ever. would you judge?

OP posts:
usualsuspect · 16/09/2010 22:13

Are you sure it wasn't a sausage roll being shoved in the babies mouth?

piprabbit · 16/09/2010 22:15

I wear my judgy pants all the time at the moment. Unfortunately the elastic is worn and they are looking rather saggy so are no longer up to the job of effective judging.
On the plus side they are nice and cosy now the weather is getting chilly.

The OP's seem to be made of sturdier stuff, set to last and provide many years of happy judging.

LacyLeggins · 16/09/2010 22:17

was defnatly a dummy, but baby looked lke it had just consumed a box of mars bars! poor mite.

Ah, fuck off, you were judging the £15 buggy more than anything else.

Now you're trying to make yourself seem better by adding stuff about affection.

Op is a twat

LacyLeggins · 16/09/2010 22:27

yes i do judge £15 buggies for small babes! they never look comfortable and dont recline or have a hood!!! especally when the parent has a pair of boots on worth ten times the buggy!!

I have a bugaboo and got caught out without the rain cover today. Would that have made you feel any better?

For all of you with dc that won't keep socks on...tights. Under the trousers. For the boys as well. (Obviously not in pink, but navy/red, no-one will know). DS1 would not wear socks, couldn't get tights off. And I would have judged the no coats too. Particularly if the parents were wearing coats. Doesn't matter if it's designer or not, if it's cold enough for the parent to need a coat, then the dc definately needs a coat.

I hate raincovers. I always think it looks like the baby is going to suffocate under all that plastic, so I never, ever use one. How do I get around this? Make sure I don't go out when it's raining, or if I get caught out, make sure the hood is pulled right down and the baby is well covered with a blanket.

Baby socks always fall off
