Every day I drive past a sign outside a block of newly built flats. Amongst the other posters/billboards persuading you to buy a property, there is one which reads "Can mum and dad help?"

If we are ever in a position to help our children buy a property then I'll be happy to do so. However, I don't like the idea of a large building firm fostering a sense of entitlement in my (and other people's) children and find it somehow insiduous and annoying.

AIBU or am I over-reacting?

You are over-reacting :)

It's a question, not a statement.

YANBU. It is insidious.

Next they'll be asking
"Can granny and grandad help?"

IDoAllMyOwnStunts · 15/09/2010 20:15

YANBU - I'd find it annoying too and be tempted to draw moustaches and glasses on the figures on the advert to show my dislike.

Anenome · 15/09/2010 20:19

I would find it annoying too! I agree with IDoAllMyOwnStunts!
YANBU

i'd put something like 'make them more affordable and mum and dad wouldn't have to help would they' under it

Hmm, I like the glasses and moustaches idea. Just nipping out.....
