I do not want to waste money on buying people little xmas presents when I have my own dd and dp. I just think it is useless, but how can I say this to friends and family members?

I know I could speand £100-£200 on friends, family and everyones kids and dont want to. I know it sounds tight but that how i feel.

YANBU
so much money spent on ungrateful relatives. All the children I know are inundated with toys that are never played with.
Can you do a deal? You won't buy if they don't either?

Just tell people that's what you are doing and see how they react. Then you'll have your answer!

Yanbu. I know exactly what you mean. I feel the same.

But I don't have the answer. Sorry!

i tried telling one friend who replied by saying she has already got me and dd a present. I just think its a waste of time and money as you spend ages looing for a good present that wont break the bank...

It is a total waste of money but everyone insists on buying!

Nope - YANBU

I buy for my parents and DP and DNs. That's it. Oh and a secret santa thing with my mates.

I started it a few years ago when I went in to have major surgery just before xmas - I told everyone I wasn't buying presents and I've carried on since. I save money and the stress of wasting my time shopping for stuff that people don't really need. Some people in my family think I'm stingy but most people understand.
