to think that the woman who presents "I Can Cook" is an Agent of Evil

She always appears when I put the television on for an hour or three when I have to do "non-essential" things such as cleaning or cooking

Her very face seems to inspire my DS (3) towards anarchic behaviour.

It's always during this programme when he'll try his hardest to cause the most destruction. I think there must be subliminal dark messages contained therein to provoke this sort of behaviour. Well that or it's as boring as all shite.

Either way something needs to be done. Will nobody think of the parents?

My DD loves this programme. I'm not so sure, the weird singing bit makes me cringe.

ElenorRigby · 13/09/2010 14:32

YABVU!
My DD adores her, which makes a her saint! She squeals Katie and then goes completely quiet for the rest of the show. :o

MistsandMellowMilady · 13/09/2010 14:32

It's probably a lot less frightening for a girl than Big Cook Little Cook Grin

Lol! Maybe he should watch Gordon Ramsey? I hate the fake giggling and the singing too (((baaaaaarf)))

sethstarkaddersmum · 13/09/2010 14:37

the songs are not very good are they?

MistsandMellowMilady · 13/09/2010 14:37

Oh yes, Gordon Ramsey is much more his speed. Thanks Grin

I'd like to bear witness to his "thoughts" on grape pizza too.

She's fine. But the singing at the end is so cringey, like she really wanted to be KT Tunstall or something.

Eglu · 13/09/2010 14:42

YANBU. She is creepy and sounds so fake and insincere when talking to the children.

oneofthosedays · 13/09/2010 14:42

arrrgh - she says at the beginning what they are making and then always says "and I can't wait!", there's only so many ways to say this and every way she says it is fucking irritating. DS hates it thank god!

MadameCheese · 13/09/2010 14:46

I can't stand it when she uses babyish expressions such as "get out your tickling fingers" for rubbing together fat and flour. Why are programs trying to dumb down language for little ones? I think your son has a more discerning palate when it comes to television perhaps Mists, you have taught him well :o. Big cook, little cook is utter bilge.

KaraStarbuckThrace · 13/09/2010 14:47

It's better than Big Cock Little Cock, so I think YA a wee bit UR.

sethstarkaddersmum · 13/09/2010 14:48

tee hee, do you call it that too? I struggle to avoid saying it in front of dcs Blush

Good grief your all like my DP. He has a range of children's characters he hates.
I'm happy if DD is happy. If she loves Barney or Katie, Im fine with it. I just learn to love them too. :o

"I love you. You love me. We're a happy family. With a great big hug and a kiss from me to you. Wont you say. You LOVE me TOOO!!!"

I love you Barney!

MistsandMellowMilady · 13/09/2010 14:52

LOL @ rictus grin

It isn't my imagination. DS is always uncharacteristically naughty when Katie is on the television. I think she's egging him on somehow.

MistsandMellowMilady · 13/09/2010 14:55

EleanorRigby I have heard of parents who have told their DC that Barney was run over by a bus and killed in order to escape from that song / toy. Admittedly it was only in a novel.

If you play it backwards...

wigglesrock · 13/09/2010 15:28

I loathe Katie, my dds seem quite non plussed, my dh on the other hand lurves her!!
Ps My mum cries when my dd2 sings the Barney song tears of joy I might add!!

mellymooks · 13/09/2010 16:12

It's the fake laughter that winds me up most that and the fact she wears the same outfit every episode - I'm assuming this is cause it's all been filmed in one job lot?!
