I've looked after my nephew almost exclusivly 5 days a week since SIL went beck to work in may. It was originaly ment to be split between SIL's sister T and myself but the sister backed out at the last minute leaving me to take up her slack. At the begining of the summer holidays T decided she wanted nephew for the week and SIL agreed telling me on the sat night I wouldn't have him the next week. I was annoyed and next time I saw SIL I told her giving me a days notices wasn't fair and was taking the piss SIL appologised and said it wouldn't happen again.
T and I shared childcare for a couple of weeks till T again backed out at the last minute leaving me to do the childcare myself.
SIL text me last night to say K will be having him this week and I'll be sharing the childcare with her from now on.
AIBU to find this really upsetting? It feels like I'm expected to just agree to anyything she wants and my feelings dont matter yet when it all goes tits up I'm again ment to just shut up and put up.

YANBU - SIL needs to stop messing you about. You are very kind to help her with childcare.

loopyloops · 13/09/2010 10:30

I hope she's paying you?

stargazer83 · 13/09/2010 10:31

She pays £20 a day but I provide all food and snacks, pay for any activitys and buy clothes as she would always forget to bring spares.

£20 a day! She should be a bit nicer to you I reckon.

Theflatulentfairy · 13/09/2010 11:34

Shes taking the piss! £20 per day is a tiny fraction of what she'd have to pay for nursery or a registered childminder and they would still charge if she had only given 1 days notice. You need to put your foot down with her and agree to some reasonable terms
