To think Bruce Forsyth should probably retire now?

He's like the embarrassing grandfather / uncle that you just want to gag when they start talking, whilst burying your head in your hands and muttering "Oh please no, not that joke again..."

Bless him.

For the record, I have only watched Strictly because I want to see how Anne Widdecombe will hold up on the dance floor Grin

lol no YANBU...he is a legend, but may be a bit past his best. I think he is cutting down on his shows though...not doing the results anymore of something.

Aitch · 12/09/2010 22:23

not doing sundays any more, thank CHRIST

scurryfunge · 12/09/2010 22:25

Did you know that his family have planned an open casket at his funeral?

KurriKurri · 12/09/2010 22:26

Yes I think it's probably time for the hooked stick.

On the other hand Tess is worse - I'm sure she referred to Patsy Kensit as 'Pasty' yesterday.

peggotty · 12/09/2010 22:28

Oh dear god, don't get me started on the horror that is Forsythe. WHY WHY WHY is he still on television.. he hates us, he hates us all!!! Misanthropy oozes from his pores and I don't think he actually enjoys anything anymore!

SirBoobAlot · 12/09/2010 22:33

Scurry, I am firstly concerned by the fact they are having an open casket, secondly wondering why you know that, and thirdly thinking they must agree with me if they're already planning his funeral Grin

Tess is a pain in the arse as well.

But hey, at least Brendan is back on the screen

SirBoobAlot.....they thought it would be nice to see him....

Mowiol · 12/09/2010 22:34

I still cringe when I remember Brucie's gig as a host on "Have I got News For You" - absolutely awful Blush what a leering old goat.

BUT, must admit (although I think he should have retired about 20 years ago) I was pleasantly surprised at his "Who do you Think You Are episode. He actually came across as a normal person!!

MangoTango · 12/09/2010 22:38

How dare you! I absolutely LOVE Brucie. I always have done. Really makes me laugh. Paul Daniels on the other hand is just unbearable. Love the Widdi though. Thought Felicity Kendall looked fantastic. Have never watched Strictly before but am going to try to this time for The Widdi

SirBoobAlot · 12/09/2010 22:40

When Bruce and Paul are on the screen together, think I'm going to have to press mute. They're as bad as each other.

KurriKurri · 12/09/2010 22:57

Oh yes, Paul "couldn't sell out a village hall these days" Daniels is indeed a very strange little man.

nameymcnamechange · 12/09/2010 22:58

I think he should have retired a couple of years ago.

Aitch · 12/09/2010 23:10

creepy and weird, yes, but daniels used to be the king of primetime, remember? and he does have a proper talent at least. makes you wonder what ant and dec will have to do to remain famous in twenty years...

Mowiol · 13/09/2010 00:44

Daniels has a proper talent?
Must have missed that, sorry, hideous little man. Remembering "Mrs Merton" asking of Debbie McGee "So what attracted you to the millionaire Paul Daniels?"

MissAnneElk · 13/09/2010 00:53

LOL at scurryfunge. In my very humble opinion Bruce Forsyth was ready for retirement when he was on the generation game in the 70s.

kreecherlivesupstairs · 13/09/2010 08:05

I said to my DH last night something very similar. We watched the Heroes thing on BBC1. He really makes me want to go and have a hot shower and good scrub. There is something not quite savoury about him.
Also, very interested to know how you know about open coffin? [vom]

scurryfunge · 13/09/2010 08:49

kreecher,

It was a joke about the coffin! His family thought it would be nice to see him, geddit?Smile

PosieParker · 13/09/2010 08:54

Brucie reminds me of my late Grandfather, lovely just lovely. You'll miss him when he's gone!

Aitch · 13/09/2010 08:59

of course he has a proper talent, he was an amazing magician in his day, absolutely one of the best in the world. Hmm

SirBoobAlot · 13/09/2010 09:09

at Scurry.

[embarrassed] [gullible]

GetOrfMoiLand · 13/09/2010 10:37

I would actually really like to watch Strictly, however I cannot watch bruce F voluntarily (me and dd think he looks like a tyrranosaurus Rex, look at his evil little reptillian eyes). I cringed for England when he hosted Have I Got News For You that time.

Mind you, I think Tess Daly should be put out to pasture as well. Has there ever been a more useless presenter?

Aitch · 13/09/2010 10:38

she is ghastly, imo. and not a nice person from what i understand.

EccentricaGallumbits · 13/09/2010 10:43

Ane Widdi is going to win. There will be heads rolling accross the BBc. Questions in parliament and the end of Strictly.

John S saga again - only better.

GetOrfMoiLand · 13/09/2010 10:49

She is a professional northerner. Bet she speaks like Judi Dench in real life.

Tess and Vernon should be put on a raft and set sail down the River Ribble for all eternity.
