to think 8 out of 10 Mumsnetters do not recommend weaning with Kenwood, actually?

I don't. Do you?

And I think it's misleading to state that "It's important to ensure your baby is introduced to a balanced diet through a gradual process ? milk is followed by smooth purées, which gradually gets thickened into mashed and chunky textures, and on to whole pieces, once your baby starts chewing." OK, so they've got a product to sell but purees are not the only way to wean a baby and certainly not the best way.

Whats the best way then..do tell

UnePrune · 12/09/2010 21:41

I think it's just a bit sad.
Most people do mash stuff up, but WHY you need a whizzy blender set-up for it is anyone's guess.

moonstorm · 12/09/2010 21:42

YANBU - but then companies don't make money with BLW

UnePrune · 12/09/2010 21:42

Anyway, here goes for some nice publicity for them Grin

ballstoit · 12/09/2010 21:42

Erm ,sorry if I'm being dim, but where did you get this propaganda from ?!

nameymcnamechange · 12/09/2010 21:42

Hmm. Why not do a poll?

JustAnotherManicMummy · 12/09/2010 21:44

No need for an expensive kitchen gaget if you do baby led weaning

nameymcnamechange · 12/09/2010 21:46

From what I can gather, about 499 out of 500 Mumsnetters do not go on Mark Warner holidays - but that doesn't stop them advertising here Grin.

Serendippy · 12/09/2010 21:47

No need for an expensive kitchn gadget if you mash stuff with a fork

TheHouseofMirth · 12/09/2010 21:47

ballstoit, you get it if you click through from the Kenwood banner ad on this site.

usualsuspect I didn't say there was a better way (though personally I do think BLW is better) but resent them stating pureeing is "important" and therefore the proper way of weaning.

No need for an expensive kitchen gaget if you do purees either.

I too would like to know where you hot this propaganda

Serendippy · 12/09/2010 21:49

Mashing stuff with a fork was how I did purees. Was never very good at this mothering business. Am a little scared of kitchen gadgets too...

TheSistersGrim · 12/09/2010 21:49

My banner is just going on about exquisite hotels

TheHouseofMirth · 12/09/2010 21:50

But nameynamechager Markwarner don't state on their advertising that Mumsnetters do.

OP posts:
borderslass · 12/09/2010 21:51

I used a fork and a sieve for purees.

nameymcnamechange · 12/09/2010 21:52

Oh Confused.

Does the Kenwood ad state that 8 out of 10 Mumsnetters recommend their thingy? In that case, yanbu, I'm sure they don't.

Yes, it actually states that 8 out of 10 mumsnetters (with a lowercase m!) recommend weaning with Kenwood.

nameymcnamechange · 12/09/2010 22:09

Am amazed!

llbeanj · 12/09/2010 22:11

take a copy and report it to the ASA.

they probably won't do anything, but they may advise them not to do it again.

memoo · 12/09/2010 22:15

There was a Kenwood product test via mumsnet a few months ago. I got a very nice free handblender, maybe thats where they are getting their figures from

Smilehighclub · 12/09/2010 22:16

It was a product tested on here (I got one). I praised my Kenwood thingy highly, in fact it's bloody marvellous! I've never had a gadget before. That said, I didn't use it actually for weaning (bl weaner here) but it's fab for lots of other stuff.

Serendippy · 12/09/2010 22:19

Could be 8 out of 10 if they only asked 10 people and gave them all a free product? Like those adverts where they say '88% of women thought...' and it turns out they only asked 231 women and have given them all a free sample. Would be surprised if they couldn't back up their figures, maybe suggest doing a poll on MN and giving them a new statistic? Though they might not like that idea...

Lougle · 12/09/2010 22:19

Yes, but there is a rather huge slight difference between 8 out of 10 testers recommending it (probably about 20 posters) and 8 out of 10 Mumsnetters recommending it (about 400000 posters).

TheHouseofMirth · 12/09/2010 22:21

I don't know what the rules are though. I'm pretty certain advertisers are allowed to say a whole load of stuff as long as they do not set out to deliberately mislead. The product test included 100 Mumsnetters. If 80 out of those 100 Mumsnetters did say that then I guess Kenwood are allowed to publish it? Though I believe there are something over 250,000 registered users on this site of which 80 would be 0.0003%...
