to sue hotel chain

We were at a well known hotel this afternoon for Sunday lunch, after lunch we were walking through the reception area where DC (13months old) fell and split open their head on the corner of the table (adult shin height) we had to ask the receptionist for medical assistance, all the while DC screaming and blood pouring everywhere.

We had to take DC to A&E where he needed a GA, however because of past expeirence with this, it was then decided that our baby would go through the treatment and the horrid trauma with no pain relief, he needed 1 inner stitch and 2 outer stitches, and next week he will have to endure it all again.

I phoned the hotel to let them know the result, and asked for safety guards on the tables to stop further accidents like this in future, they said the would get back to me, due to the "design" of the lounge Hmm

Everybody has said to sue, as its the only way they know, that this hotel will take action.

I know this from expeirence sadly also with the chain.

However I feel uneasy about it.

I think she was telling the truth about the cut head at the hotel, was hoping for evryone to say why aren't you comfortable with sueing - sue their arses.

Has now had invent this story about compensation in another bid to convince the masses she was right and we are wrong.

Sorry OP.

Glad DS is OK today - thats a relief.

cupcakesandbunting · 13/09/2010 19:53

Yes. She went off at the deep end (and probably realised it) but rather than owning up and admitting over-zealousness, she's span us a yarn about removal of tables/documents/injured adults/freebies.

Joking aside though, it makes me feel sick when little ones hurt their heads so I am sorry that her DS banged his poor noggin :( Glad he is doing OK too...

I have never sen someone cram so much into a 24 hour period. And we recently complained to a hotel chain about poor service didn't get as much as a free cuppa.

cupcakesandbunting · 13/09/2010 20:35

She'll be canonised by tomorrow. The Pope is in the country and he is looking for a Patron Saint of Accident Claims.

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 13/09/2010 20:36

Oh cupcakes what perfect timing! Saint Claimsdirect of Beefeater perhaps?

cupcakesandbunting · 13/09/2010 20:38

Saint InjuryLawyers4U of Warehouses Wacky.

Northernlurker · 13/09/2010 20:39

Of course it could be that the complaints person at hotel HQ is a mumsnetter and spent all of yesterday worrying lest she get the op on the phone this morning and she has.....

oliviacrumble · 13/09/2010 20:39

This thread sounds really like one earlier in the Summer, where someone wanted to sue someone or other because their baby fell out of a sling which had been opened by airport security.

I thought of it as soon as i read the Op.

i think this sounds like a load of rubbish, tbh

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 13/09/2010 20:41

Yes and we had that thread about the invisible leaflet thingy in the DIY store as well. Hmm . Saint Wherethere'sblamethere'saclaim of Bullshitsville??

cupcakesandbunting · 13/09/2010 20:42

I loved the invisible leaflet injury woman. She was mega.

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 13/09/2010 20:44

Cupcakes I haven't been to a DIY store since for fear of bumping into ....and invisible leaflet holder!!!

cupcakesandbunting · 13/09/2010 20:48

I can't say I blame you, hobnobs. It sounded most distressing. DIY stores can be extremely perilous places, with all of these non-moving objcts just waiting to attack...

There is definitely a market for suits made from bubblewrap.

OOh I've always fancied being wrapped in bubble wrap Blush

cupcakesandbunting · 13/09/2010 20:49

God, I hope so, Pixie. That thread had me laughing like a drain for at least ten minutes.

I just found and read the DIY one and snorted white wine all over my own legs. I may have to sue.
I can't decide which is my favourite bit - DIYcom3 or the cloak of invisibility theory....

i should warn you.

I snorted coffee all over the laptop and the floor.

I may sue.

Or then again maybe I only thought of it but really didn't and anyway surely its the fault of God for designing my nose like that??
