Why do some women, seemingly intelligent, have to talk so childishly on facebook and elsewhere. Just looked at "friends" posting telling her poppa to have a cuddle with her mummy and she is mid feckin 20s. For feck sake grow up and act your fecking age. And she uses her name twice when signing off, her name is Nicola and she calls herself nic nic fecking hell! Hmm

You cross about something?

ozmetric · 11/09/2010 17:37

YABU. Why should it bother you so much? And if she's your friend why are you so judgemental of her?

activate · 11/09/2010 17:38

souds like a bit of an irritating twat to me

HeathcliffMoorland · 11/09/2010 17:40

YANBU.

msyikes · 11/09/2010 17:48

YANBU, people are totally emotionally incontinent on Facebook and all over the place these days and also can't distinguish between basic homophones properly. I would like to see a return to repression and decent grammar teaching. And I honestly mean that quite seriously, my younger self would be appalled at my illiberalness (if that is even a word)!
We need to return to mystery and concealment immediately!!

She IS acting her age....

YANBU. I have hidden a few people so I can't see their status updates.

My cousin and his on/off GF have full on swearing arguements on FB. Its really shocking.

Another aquaintance sends her DP really soppy messages that she knows he will not read or reply to and its for the 'benefit' of everyone else. Example "hello honey, did you like it when I made your breakfast for you this morning and did you like the lunch I packed for you, love you loads, you treat me like a princess" etc etc.

She makes me want to vomit.

geraldinetheluckygoat · 11/09/2010 19:31

does anyone also have a person on their freinds list who just posts perpetually MISERABLE messages? The rirst few times, everyone is very sympathetic, then gradually people stop replying and yet these people still keep posting misery. Why?

binjibaghi · 11/09/2010 19:52

detective potato pass the sick bag here when you are done - have to wait at least 1 hour after eating before fb because of one 'friend' even if i hide her she is friends with so many other friends her comments still keep showing up !

fb really shows up those with no personality sense of humour their posts are always soppy or mundane or miserable

Headbanger · 11/09/2010 20:29

I have to put up with my sister had her daughter having rows via FB, then making up, etc. (And others from that section of the family). I have no idea how it makes people suddenly behave like they're thirteen.

I have only once posted something personal in a FB status (my husband had been injured on duty and I was waiting for him to come home), and it was so unusual I immediately started getting lots of phone calls Blush. I was so mortified I removed it at once, of course

geraldine, I had one of those, every twinge, every ill, every slight against her.. all throughout the day...

OOh, what about the other thing you get on FB from time to time... FRIEND HARVESTING....

Where you get a request from a friend of a friend, you say hi, they never reply, then you hear they've requested all your friends too!!

I only have people I know and regularly correspond with on my FB, and no kids either...

DetectivePotato · 12/09/2010 08:01

I have recently deleted over 100 people from my list as I realised I didn't speak to them at school. let alone now. I have also deleted anyone that I don't speak to on FB whether they are in my life or not. The aquaintance I mentioned above has just under 1000 friends!!!! She 'collects' anyone and everyone. When we first met her, I think the first thing she did was add me and DH on FB. Then she split with our friend and I deleted her. As soon as they got back together, she added me again. Does my head in! She also has her DPs ex and her new DH on her friends list too, then told me how she doesn't like the ex's DH as he reminds her of someone who abused her when she was young and she thinks he is a wanker (which is true but why have him on FB then)?

ledkr · 12/09/2010 08:17

Easy! don't do face book never have. have lost count of amount of people who have had probs cos of it. my ex h child gf put her scan on hers before hed had the decency to tell our children 3 whom are older than her! ! It's trouble I tell thee, stick to mumsnet!
