NOTE: This is not meant to be offensive and if you suffered as a result of 9/11 you have my deepest sympathies it was a terrible event however it was caused.

Having watched a few documentaries on the conspiracy theories I am partially if not completely convinced all was not as it seemed. The fact that many witnesses that saw/heard things that didn't tie in with the official version have since died in suspicious circumstances doesn't help!

I used to work for a company of structural engineers. I once spent an evening in the pub with a bunch of highly qualified building engineers talking about this.

The consensus was that if it had been a conspiracy then it was a spectacularly dumb one. Wire up two (or three, if you include WTC7) giant buildings with explosives and miles of cabling then fly remote-controlled aircraft into them? And then hope that none of the thousands of people in those buildings notices the months of work that would require or the miles of cabling? Or that the huge teams of explosive workers would say anything?

If you had that much access to the building it would've been a whole lot more simple to disable the building fire-suppression system and then start a fire above the level that the fire engines can reach.

I think a fair amount of the conspiracy theories are actually rooted in racism. A lot of people simply cannot believe that a tiny bunch of Saudis could bring a country like the US to its knees.

Yes while I don't buy the "government did it" thing I still think the passport finding is really odd. "lots of bitS of paper from the offices survived" doesn't explain why the passports of the hijackers, which would have been at the centre of the impact, fire, explosion etc, were all found still legible so quickly when very little from those levels was not atomised. Anything stronger than that?

I mean any stronger explanations than the fact that not everything was burned.. in other words, serendipity, coincidence.

i just watched the video you posted of the controlled explosion? what are you getting at? That building is different to WTC in alot of ways.

1. it was bricks and concrete.

2 it was only 11-12 storeys high - WTC was 110 storeys high - very different.

Also i agree with flightattendant Thermite was found on parts of the steel and also like flightattendant said Why did the whole of the building collapse, if it was just to collpase due to the high temps of the jet fuel the steel core would still be erected.

YEs how come passports were found but every piece of steel was just smashed to smithereens.

But it appears to me that you don't want to read the explanations because you want the conspiracy theories to be true.

As some-one else said there could be an element of racism here - people just struggle to believe that a bloke in a cave could organise and carry out such an extraordinary attack. "Black Swan" is a very good read!

I subscribe to the "cock-up" theory myself - there were chances for the US to stop 9/11 but they missed them and their response on the day was a touch farcical in places (as Condoleeza Rice said on the programme last night, they were just "making up" their response as their protocols had been designed during the Cold War).

My DH is a structural engineer, he has told me that they is NO WAY that the twin towers were obliterated by controlled explosions. You don't just go and blow up 2 buildings. The planning and team of people required to blow up buildings of this scale would be immense and couldn't possibly be kept secret.

Do you honestly believe that Obama would sit on this? And he would have to know.

I will always still by what i believe. Also not seen the 9/11 programme from last night as had friend round so will watch tonight, but do you think Condoleeza Rice will sit there and say 'oh yes the Government had everything to do with this' She ws secretary of state in 2001 and she wont want to ruin her career will she.

You could always access the foundations via the secret tunnel/ semtex store that Obama has ordered to be put in under the building to make it easier next time the US government wants to blow stuff up.

Apparently this is mandatory for all new builds in the US now. I know because my friend's brother's dad is a mapologist and he was taking a slash next to the head of the CIA and he told him.

What about the news report on BBC news that reported that Building 7 had collapsed yet it was still in view behind her!
