To be cross with the cheeky bloody French

On the wireless today was a report that the French are stealing our National dish. The cheeky swines have spent years taking the piss out of our food and claiming French cuisine is the best in the world
Now the new thing in Frances top restaurant is fish and chips selling at up to 28 euros.

Cheeky sods or what?

Oooh, did they say which restaurants by any chance?

I don't see any evidence of it here in Paris, except in the 'pubs'- and they aren't great at it.

Honeydragon · 09/09/2010 21:19

Perhaps you could start a campaign to replace it with the green pepper pizza?

Funny you should pop up tonight I was thinking I really must thankyou for changing my life for the better Jason

so thankyou Jason Smile

and uabu unreasonable our national dish is chicken tikka masala.

jasonthunderpants · 09/09/2010 21:21

Cant remember which restaurants, but they did mention that pubs did them, which I found surprising
But you wont be getting pickled eggs or mushy peas.Apparently they still are fussy about those. And wait for it

The fish is fried in tempura batter

Thought tikka masala was of UK origin devised in an Indian restaurant, but curry is no 1 UK favourite dish

jasonthunderpants · 09/09/2010 21:25

Honeydragon

puzzled?

why did I change you life for the better?

Is it? I thought something wasn't right the few times I had it.

Anyhow, they didn't compare to any fish&chips I had in the UK, so there's no reason to get worried yet.

TheCrackFox · 09/09/2010 21:25

Also, whilst we are criticising the French they have gone nuts for Apple Crumble (le crumble), did they ask permission? No they bloody didn't.

jasonthunderpants · 09/09/2010 21:26

The uk is now exporting tikka masala ready meals to India

Sorry Dinah will ammend my post to curry Smile

I needed to get a pepper last week and it was £0.81 Shock Shock then I thought of you and purchased frozen peppers for pizza and quick lazy fajitas - my life has now changed for the better - they really aren't that bad Grin.

I now no longer have to go to the nearest shop and be ripped off as I have the peppery little bastards whenever I want them for only £0.97.

Jasonthunderpants - I salute your slatternly cost effective cooking Grin

jasonthunderpants · 09/09/2010 21:36

Honeydragon
They are not cheap are they. You cannot go wrong with a bag of frozen peppers even though most of them are green

Glad to be of service
