to sometimes wonder why alcohol is even legal

Because a good friend of my sister was found dead in her house last night after what looked like a drinking binge. She aspirated her vomit.

She was 31 years old and like alot of people, enjoyed a drink. It is such a fucking waste.

When you really break it down, it seems incredulous that a toxic substance which has the ability to change your personality, affect your balance, perception, insight and safety awareness is even legal. Why isn't cocaine legal then? Or cannabis?

OMG :(

that's so horrible. I hope you and your sister are ok after such bad news :(

and YANBU to wonder why. it's just... culture. I'm quite pleased I don't like most alcohol TBH.

I think a lot of people drink responsibly but I agree - if this was a 'new substance' in society today, I think it would be classified.

I stopped drinking two years ago while i was ttc. Don't miss it and doubt i'll drink again. I agree that if it was a new substance it would def be classified.

I sometimes wonder if people actually realise the dangers of bingedrinking?

YANBU - society pays a very high price for it.

Oh, that is awful. I can't begin to imagine how you and your sister are feeling.
