...and yet, whenever I see his Facebook updates, although I dislike/disapprove of the contents ....

HIS APOSTROPHES ARE ALWAYS, ALWAYS PERFECTLY PLACED.

It's so incongruous!

But what of his infinitives colditz? Does he (whispers) split?

Drusilla · 07/09/2010 23:18

Is he Gene Hunt?

colditz · 07/09/2010 23:21

no.

A typical update from him goes something like this

"Stoppin in wif da Mrs tonight, watching Chuck n Larry cos Repo-men's shite!"

It's a thick looking sentence .... but that apostrophe is in the right place and they always bloody are!

OP posts:
colditz · 07/09/2010 23:23

here's another ...

"So then?? Who's first for the beatings??? I'm gonna cause some damage!!!!"

Again with the apostrophes. many people misplace the first one, or just change the word for 'whose' - but again, the apostrophe is perfectly placed.

As
Bloody
Always

I find it fascinating.

Well, more disturbing...

Tippychooks - wasn't Jane Austen famous for her split infinitives?
Didn't seem to do her any harm - and your friend just sounds like an old-fashioned blokey-bloke colditz.
And there is nothing wrong with that if he can punctuate properly!!

Tippychoocks · 07/09/2010 23:25

Mowiol, I haven't a Scoobys what a split infinitive is. Or was. Or may be. I learn, then I forget.
It's a joke Smile

Mowiol · 07/09/2010 23:25

Oops - cross-post.
Sounds like he likes a good old fight??

Valpollicella · 07/09/2010 23:26

Grin @ Is he Gene Hunt

colditz · 07/09/2010 23:27

But

But

'blokes' like that generally cannot punctuate properly

TBH I think the bloke thing is a bit of an act. he moved to my town when he was 15 and he had to fit in fast .... I suspect he's a darned sight brighter than he lets on.

Note to self:
Must engage humour gene before posting!

colditz · 07/09/2010 23:28

I wondered if this was a friend of mine posting for a minute but I haven't had a gender reassignment in my sleep (checks down trousers).

Mowiol · 07/09/2010 23:31

Sorry - I'm a nosey stirring old bat Grin

Tippychoocks · 07/09/2010 23:31

Papillon · 07/09/2010 23:35

I now a guy just like that with you know the apostrophe thing.
He is a commitment phobic, binge drinking, self centred arrrgggghhhh

gotta love to hate those mongrels

colditz · 07/09/2010 23:36

No. I really really don't.

I am genuinely fascinated by the strangeness of a typed message saying

"If you're going to keep callin my Mrs a slag I'm gonna have to get round to your house and sort you out - who's to say I wasn't in the pub all night? I've plenty of friends, mate"

OP posts:
colditz · 07/09/2010 23:37

SGb, I once did a search on your name, with the key word "Service" attached.

It coughed up 135 messages.

I was very amused (and impressed)

Papillon · 07/09/2010 23:41

yeh it starts with fascination... then its all downhill!
Do you admire his devil may care attitude, his expressive swagger with abit of apostrophe class to boot?

AnyFucker · 07/09/2010 23:43
