I have 2 sons and a daughter (5, 4, 1) and am almost 8 weeks with DC4.

Chatting to people I am honest: It would be nice for DD to have a sister, the 2 older lads could do guy stuff and the 2 babies girls can do girl stuff Grin but I really could not give a shite either way, I just want a healthy child.

I strongly feel this is a boy and when I tell people they look sympathetic!!

Why?!

DD is absolutly gorgeous, she gets comments everywhere we go and I adore her, but ditto my lads!

I really don't understand WHY they feel that way?!

Its happened with 4 people so far!!

I could understand more if I had 3 lads... but I have a DD, I just don't get where they are coming from!

Think you're reading too much into people's looks.

Most people will have a pointless, social comment to make about the gender of your child. You will be morally obliged to take great offence at any comment they make as you have both flavours already, so they will offend you no matter what they say won't they.

I dunno - maybe just say 'I don't know what sex it is yet'?

YANBU When I told DH's aunty we were having another boy she said "Aww, never mind,eh?". Also when talking to someone at a BBQ they said "2 boys? you need to try for a girl now". After the problems we had conceiving DS2 we are just lucky to have 2 children at all and having two boys is WONDERFUL. x

Morris, I'm not reading into peoples looks, My Aunt said 'oh no, thats a shame, but you may be wrong! Lets wait until the scan, eh?'

Hmm

i have a ds and a dd and i have been honest this time and said i would of prefered a boy. no reason for that, just a preference.

anytime i told people that they were amazed! people always assume i would like another girl.

i dont understand why people have an opinion on what sex my baby is.

mendipgirl · 07/09/2010 14:14

People are just strange when it comes to this, I am expecting my DC2, already have a DD and everyone seems to think I want a DS. I really honestly don't mind what it is, but I can't convince anyone of this. People assume I will be disappointed if it is another DD and I canot convince them otherwise. I am in danger of going the other way and saying I want 2 DDs just to get them off my back. The poor thing is not even born and already lined up to a be a disappointment!

I understand your annoyance!

emmyloulou · 07/09/2010 14:18

Try having 3 boys and then peoples look of relief when I tell them I am pregnant with a girl and the rediculous comment that follow.

Firawla · 07/09/2010 14:20

they must be thinking like you have 2 brothers together so will be nice for dd to have a sister, like to be "balanced" 2 of each? but just ignore them, obviously whatever you get you will be happy with
