DS has an all singing all dancing super weather proof jacket that was bought because he walks to school in all weather.

Today its absolutely lashing down and he starts crying when told to put his jacket on.

Why do they do this, just put the bloody thing on!!!

my dd put hers on but wanted to keep the hood down cos she likes getting her hair wet [sigh]

DS also kept hood down, he's just discovered hair gel and didn't want to mess his hair (he's only 6 btw) Smile

My DD (9) is a lot less vain!

How old? Kids at my DCs senior school don't wear coats whatever the weather, unless there is a foot of snow on the ground at least.

Hi mummytime, he's only 6. He'd always have to wear a jacket so don't understand the hate for it.

Also, all parents got a letter from school saying jackets to be taken every day. Think it was because if it rained in afternoon they didn't want kids leaving school in rain with no jacket. Understandably.

I think he doesn't like the jacket, but its a good one so don't want to change it. Also, don't have the money to change it.

Anyone any suggestions?

Oh mine were like this. Not wanting to wear a coat in winter, but then not wanting to take it off when the weather got warmer. You just have to insist he has it with him. Do you have a cheap cagoule he can have stuffed in his bag (Tescos and Sainburys sometime do them)? Is he worried no-one else will be wearing theirs? Does he get too hot? (Maybe insist he just wears it when its actually raining?)

Good luck.

Has someone made fun of it at school ? - had same problem with my dd a few years ago - had a lovely coat warm, waterproof and what I thought was Trendy - turns out someone made a remark that it was like an old lady's coat and that was it ! never worn again ! - perhaps ask him ? even if you say well just ignore them etc etc, it won't change how he feels, kids can be just horrible to each other and as much as i hate to admit it, I would rather she was wearing something that she thought was right rather than what I did x

Asked him why he didn't like coat, he just doesn't want to wear it.

We had got him a waterproof but he lost it, so he has to wear the coat. For peace of mind I might get him another waterproof.

The coat is camouflage so thought he'd like it, I'm obviously out of touch! Grin
