Bit of background. My OH's possible cousin (lets call him Dave) is only possibly related because after OH's uncle died quite a few women crawled out of woodwork saying he was father of their kids which they never said before he died. This led to OH's granny becoming emotionally involved with 'grandkids' she didn't know she had and later some of the women admitted it wasn't true. Not Dave's mum tho she says dead man definately the dad of Dave which is why she "came round and robbed the money out of his room" whilst he was dying in hospital (her words!)

Anyway Dave does not work and never has he is not disabled just lazy and knows he is on to a good thing with benefits and using OH's granparents for money (who are old, disabled and can't afford it!)

Dave and let's call her Belinda (who also favours benefits over working) had a child a year ago - cue lots of sobs stories to granny who pays for lots of things for child. Anyway they have said how much better off they are (meaning in terms of benefits/family hand outs) since having baby and therefore going to have more Belinda now announces she is pregnant agin it makes my blood boil as me and OH can barely afford our two children and we both work full time!

I'm afraid it is none of your business no matter how galling it is.

LoisWillkerson · 06/09/2010 13:57

I don't think it is any of your buisness tbh.
If you think he is getting a better deal than you well I suggest you pack your job in and claim benefits then go live the high life you are just as entitled to put a claim in you know Hmm.

Chaotica · 06/09/2010 14:00

This is very similar to another thread on her - are you the same person?

ArseHolio · 06/09/2010 14:02

See what Jeremy thinks ?

kittywise · 06/09/2010 14:02

It's really crap I know. I really hope the benefit system changes under this new government to stop useless scroungers like them.

prozacfairy · 06/09/2010 14:03

Yep, I've seethed at people I know like this, but you know what? It's a big fat waste of time. They don't give a shit how others feel about their lifestyle, why the hell would they?

Best thing to do if you don't like them is avoid them like the plague. And that means avoid talking about them.

youbethemummylion · 06/09/2010 14:04

if you quit work you are not entitled to job seekers so you would have to get yourself sacked to do what Lois suggested.

I personally could never (unless I had to/no other choice) live on benefits as I think it is my job to provide for myself/my kids not other peoples. I understand how annoying it can be tho when you see others abusing the system and you see so many instances of help being needed such as elderly and there not being enough money because of the cheats.

usualsuspect · 06/09/2010 14:08

blahblah benefit scroungers blah blah blah ..no doubt they have a big fuck off flat screen tv as well

mrsunreasonable · 06/09/2010 14:11

Chaotica - nope this is my first post on MN

Prozacfairy - I know there is nothing I can do so should just not even think about it but my mind doesn't seem to work that way it just goes round and roundf and iget more and more annoyed!

Like I said before- why bother? Hmm

And if you feel so strongly you could try doing something about it- get into politics, change the system etc Wink If the sysytem didn't make it so people could this, they wouldn't would they?

OrmRenewed · 06/09/2010 14:23

Would you really want to live like them ? if not, don't let it worry you. Leave them to their own devices and be proud of being self-sufficient.

Dlamis · 06/09/2010 14:26

was going to comment but looks like Arseholio beat me to it
