Supermarket delivery

That, as a working mother, when Tesco failed to deliver my weeks shopping, failed to let me know, cancelled the order and now can't deliver until 2 days later leaving my family of 5 without lunchbox food, breakfast, dinner etc, that I do not find their offer of a voucher really sorts out the problem.

YANBU. I'd want my shopping free, plus the voucher and then I'd take my custom elsewhere.

compo · 06/09/2010 11:16

Yanbu

conkie · 06/09/2010 11:24

I stopped using online shopping because of all the fuck ups. Not worth the hassle. Asda owes me about 45 quid but it isn't worth the hassle to get it back. Customer service is atrocious

dingdong3 · 06/09/2010 11:29

Happened to me once with Tesco.... I was pregnant with DTs and had a sick DS. DH away and they cancelled the order. Couldn't re-deliver for 2 days and only if I re-created the order again from scratch!
On top of it, I had redeemed clubcard vouchers against the cost of the shopping and they couldn't refund me them until my next clubcard statement in 3 months time...sure by then I had lost track and couldn't be sure if I actually got them back.
Outrageous in this day and age whenever it's all computerised....never used them again. Find Sainsburys better and they have one hour delivery slots too.

Mowgli1970 · 06/09/2010 11:43

I always use Sainsburys and they're fantastic.

DingALongCow · 06/09/2010 11:56

Another fan of sainsburys here, although I wish I could afford Waitrose all the time!

NewbeeMummy · 06/09/2010 12:45

I've only ever used it once and ordered 2 tuna steaks, ended up with 68 salmon steaks, tried to return them, but they took so long sorting it out, that cooking them and freezing them was the only option (couldn't bare the thought of binning that much food)

DP now almost refuses to each Salmon, understandably.

NinthWave · 06/09/2010 12:49

68 salmon steaks, really?! I would have given them straight back to the driver on the doorstep!

We use Sainsburys and they are brilliant. Rarely have things missing, substitutions are always sensible and the driver always asks if I want to return any that I don't want/can't use.

They deliver in 1-hour slots too, and usually ring if they are going to be delayed - plus give a £10 voucher if they're late :)

Housewife2010 · 06/09/2010 15:53

Ocado are the best. 1 hour delivery slots. On the rare occasion they are out of stock of an item, you get a text to tell you earlier that day - no unpleasant surprises at the doorstep like with all the others. If you don't order for a week or 2 they send you 15 or 20% off codes to tempt you back. Free delivery on some time slots. I love ocado so much.

massivemammaries · 06/09/2010 15:57

I find that all home delivery services tend to give you short dated stuff and fruit and veg is not always at its' best

Housewife2010 · 06/09/2010 15:58

Ocado don't for me. I feel confident ordering our week's supply of milk & know that we'll have a Use by of at least a week away.

curlywurlycremeegg · 06/09/2010 16:02

Find Sainsburys much better than Tesco, haven't even been able to navigate my way around Asda's poor website, keep meaning to try Ocado, however Sainsbury's have always been good with customer service, rang last week as the blueberries and strawberries I had been sent didn't last 48 hours in the fridge, they refunded without any hesitation.

taffetacat · 06/09/2010 16:07

Use Sainsbo's every week, and have done for the last 2 years. In all that time, have had about 3 problems, all quickly sorted.

Christmas, as a treat, or for special occasions use Waitrose Deliver ( much wider choice than Ocado ) and they too have been good. I find Ocado choice very limited.

LoubyLoubyLouLa · 06/09/2010 16:14

Tescos did the Same to me about 2 years ago, have used Sainsbury's since without any problems.

nearlyuptheduff · 06/09/2010 16:20

I always use Asda, they are superb. The driver always rings me and comes early if I'm in. They never give me any subsitutes.

I used Tesco once... they called me to say that ALL their delivery drivers were off sick and they could not bring my order... eh?!! What a joke!!

taffetacat · 06/09/2010 16:34

Sounds like Tesco are pretty crap

cate16 · 06/09/2010 16:53

Must depend on your store -my tesco is fantastic.
Recently they telephoned me on the morning of my delivery when they had a problem with my order payment, and I still had a the delivery within my morning time slot.
They send txt messages when running late.

goodlifemummy · 06/09/2010 16:59

Recently used Waitrose Deliver to find that with the free delivery , they were about £20 cheaper than the Sainsburys shop I'd just done, so cancelled Sainsburys. Was so shocked...and chuffed! Always good quality produce, fresh, in date etc.
