To wonder why they bother having moderators on my local freecycle

To be honest I don't think they even read the offered and wanted adds.
So far today i've had 2 adds offering something for sale and at least 3 with just links to another site, Didn't dare click on links as dont wanna get a virus,
I know that the moderators are voluntry and don't get paid but surely they should do what they are supposed to.

You're lucky. Our mods are vicious! We can't ask for anything considered 'valuable' as it apparently encourages crime.

As if someone's going to go and burgle someone's house to get something then give it away for free!! Hmm

Our moderator is lovely :)

and no, it's not me!!

oh that doesn't sound good.
i think the rules differ in different areas but mine is just silly, it says in the rules that you can only put a wanted add for a particular item once a month but you get the same wanted add sometimes daily,
Ive offered stuff on there and it doesnt come on the site for 2 days,

Just wish they would do what they are supposed to so the site runs properly,
If I put an add on I would like it to go on within a couple of hours and not have stuff for sale and links to other stuff on there.

hahah this makes me giggle, I had 5, yes 5 offers of a new ipod... turns out some scam where you have to sign up for some crap - and our mods let it through all the time... Hmm

alfiethekittycat · 05/09/2010 20:22

exactly onlywantone why be a mod if you aint gonna moderate

Some of the things on there are so funny though it makes you think the posters haven't read back what they've typed before posting it.

I like the ones who offer bags of clothes for a 6 year old boy. Obviously I know what they mean but can't help wondering if they would take a 5 year old in part exchange.

My alltime favourite is the couple who offered kettle which had a slight fault - it leaked when boiled! Had me crying with laughter when I read that one!

Not everyone on a freecycle group is on moderation, which means, if their posts are generally fine, after a certain period of time they can go onto no moderation, and their posts are sent out unmoderated.

Your freecycle group may also be short of volunteers at the moment, if there is only one person doing it, and they are working full time, and with a family, maybe they just dont have time to read through every post?

Why, instead of complaining about it, dont you offer to help out?
